Also, I think I'm getting RSI in my right arm. Tingly. I read very few books, but read this a few years ago - you'll laugh a lot, and have your heartstrings pulled at the same time. A friend of mine has a 10 year old daughter who has just been diagnosed with Aspergers. Quite sad, but she's a great kid.

| I think you should start a book thread.
I love my Kindle and any recommendations would be brilliant.
Agree with the Curious Incident, read it on holiday in Majorca a few years back.
Meanwhile, spent most of today wiring new sockets and lights in my new office which has sprung up since Friday. |

| One of the best books I have read in the last couple of years or so has been Barbara Kingsolver's "The Poisonwood Bible". Gripping. |

| Hmmm. A couple of weeks ago, I read Mudbound, by Hillary Jordan, which was a flippin amazin tale of the Deep South in the 1940s. One of those books you're happy to put everything else to one side for. Reading that Jordan was indebted to Barbara Kingsolver, I ordered a couple of her books from the library. They're sitting on the library book shelf, but I can't say I'm too tempted for now. Maybe because I've already got several weeks' worth of stuff I want to read. A book thread would probably be a good idea. Wouldn't want to give the impression that reading's in any way mundane |

Ok, I'm going to guess at Haddock? (Not that I'm a huge haddock fan, but others seem to like it.) 'Nice' in the sense that it was a fish that was very well brought up. As it was hauled onto land the fisherman apologised and the fish replied, "No, that's OK. Please go ahead. We all have to do what we have to do. Please go ahead." Or so I was told. You don't get good manners like that nowadays unless you are nice! It was a bass (farmed, I'm afraid). Baked on a bed of thinly sliced mushroom & red onion with a hint of garlic & ginger. Ansum! |

It's very close to it, as far as I'm concerned. Just fuel, innit. In other news, and due to the unseasonably warm weather we've been having (although I've been flippin freezin all day today), I've worn a dress a couple of times recently. Very liberating. |

| Food - one of life's great pleasures. I love the cooking, the sitting down with friends and the eating. I have even gone through periods of reading cookery books. Food porn - can't beat it!
Actually the closest I've got to wearing a dress was when I lived in Africa for a while and on a few occasions wore a djallabia. Once I got over the unusualness it was .... err ..... very liberating, so to speak. |

The red onion garlic and ginger sounds like a perfect accompaniment too. For the record, I've just had a packet of Frazzles. |

| Sea Bass is good - very good, even - but a nice thick Turbot fillet, pan fried in butter, finshed with a squeeze of lemon juice and some capers, served with new potatoes and watercress; as far as fish cookery's concerned, that one's the Daddy.
Not very mundane, though.

| Turbot!!!!? You must be rich.
Until it became an endangered species (as did the contents of my wallet), monkfish in the form of 'lotte a l'americaine' was one of my favourites - and one of the few times I did anything not simple with fish. |

| A really under-rated fish is John Dory. A couple of fillets, gently steamed, with beurre blanc and saute potato and green beans. That's it, I'm off to the fish market. Laters people |

| If it's not in batter and paper, it's not a proper fish. You bunch of educated wankers! Turbot, John Dory and Sea Bass! What's wrong with a piece of cod with chips and a pickled egg? |

Nothing at all. My Chauffeur says it's quite delicious. |

| Lidl's innit have got some very nice almond cakes at the moment. Swedish, they are.
They've also got some Danish fruit compost - strawberry, apricot or prune - which goes very nice with a bit of cottage cheese for your dinner. |

| So is anyone here planning to be a total loser and queue for the new iPad tomorrow morning?
For those that are interested, I won't be unfortunately. Instead I plan to spend my morning off in bed, phone in hand whilst browsing ATD (shallow life I lead) |

| I had a free bet on my Paddy Power account, so did a £5 ew double on Sir Des Champs at 7-2 and Riverside Theatre at 9-2, both won so picked up £134 also put £5 ew on Catch Me which was 2nd at 12-1 so picked up £20 on that. So I put £50 on Big Bucks at 5/6 so that won me £92 and did it in a £25 win double with Marodima whch won the 3.05 at Towcester at 11/10 so that bet won me £96.25 Put some more bets on for later and withdrew £200 all from a free ber |
