Security at preseason games

There is a lot of angry fans on the way the new security firm is operating it searches at Home Park

Fans being made to empty their pockets on tables outside the Lyndhurst

Fans being made to open their wallets

Stewards without masks who are close proximity of the searches

Females fans being searched by males security staff using a wand

No searches over the Mayflower side of the ground

The club monitors social media and select supporter forums to keep abreast of supporter opinions and experiences, but we cannot comment on every topic discussed by supporters - particularly those in which we do not possess the full information.

At the Lyndhurst last night a steward with a mask waved his wand over my body and that was it, no objection to that if it prevents any knobhead carrying a weapon

What is the "wand"? Just a metal detector I would have thought?

Not one person who posted seems to have had personal experience of being searched at all. Yet they are all outraged...

As long as its done not to rile people up.

If the standard is to be searched and scanned then so be it, we can all have our choice whether to attend or not but my experience at the Lyndhurst turnstiles were arms out and scanned with the wand by a steward who was wearing a mask, didn’t take a minute and don’t regard it as a problem.

most of the stewards are absolute coonts at the best of times not all of them i will stress but there is a few every season that let them down. Im dreading how many of them let flares into the stadium cause they havent bothered to check bags properly. Or as i saw for my self stop fans bringing in there own booze and sit in the aisles drinking.

We are very excited to welcome the Green Army back to Home Park for our third, and final, home pre-season fixture ahead of the 21/22 Sky Bet League One campaign - taking on Bristol City at 6pm on Tuesday.

Nearly 10,000 supporters have already flocked through the gates at Home Park after 16 months of extremely limited crowds at the Theatre of Greens, and feedback has been, for the vast majority, extremely positive.

As always, we encourage supporters to provide feedback on their experience at Argyle to [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], and we noted a number of emails referencing security checks upon entry to the Lyndhurst Road Stand for the fixtures against Swansea City and Middlesbrough, which the club has investigated.

Pre-season fixtures for the first team also serves as pre-season for the stadium operations team, and we acknowledge the concerns raised by supporters after the fixtures. We endeavour to resolve these teething issues as soon as possible, and additional training, guidance and instructions have been delivered to our safety team to ensure that the supporter experience is consistent throughout the stadium.

The club takes its commitment to supporter security extremely seriously. Forming part of the requirements of our new risk-based safety certificate, and work with the Counter Terrorism Unit, the club has implemented enhanced security measures, with the safety of all fans, guests, and officials at Home Park at the centre of our thinking. As such, we ask supporters to note the following points.

Supporters can expect to be searched by our security team as they enter the stadium. The club will ensure that any searches are undertaken by security members of the same gender.

Bringing bags to the stadium is actively discouraged. However, fans arriving at Home Park with a small personal bag (for example, medical bags or handbags) capable of being stowed under seats is permitted. Please note, supporters should expect this to be searched before entry.

It’s likely that enhanced checks will have an effect on entry times, although staff and security will work as fast as we can to provide entry to supporters. With this in mind, we ask that supporters arrive in plenty of time to prevent queues forming as kick-off approaches.

Work with the counter terrorism unit? Wtf? Don't think they'd get away with this at The Theatre Royal somehow, by the time you get to 58 years old getting treated like a thug all the time wears a bit thin.

And don't mention gender ffs, there aren't just 2 anymore, better employ every colour under the rainbow for the non binary attendee.

I used to go to Home Park back in the Seventies when the IRA was very active and even though Plymouth is a garrison town, there was never anything like the current level of security

Most I've ever had was arms out check and can we look in your bag, explain its medical stuff okay in you go 90 seconds
At very most to get in.
