| He said: "It would cost the EU money, the Scots would expect to be subsidised by the EU, and the bloc is getting more and more reluctant to do that.
Sturgeon, stumbling around like a pissed whore asking everyone else to buy the drinks. |

| Then there is this. 'THERE should be no Scottish independence vote until 2055, Nicola Sturgeon has been warned by participants of an Express.co.uk poll. The comprehensive result comes after Boris Johnson said a vote on Scotland quitting the Union should be a "once in a generation opportunity" - with the next due in around 2055. Mr Johnson was responding to Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon after the SNP outlined new IndyRef2 vote plans. The SNP warned they could hold another vote as early as this winter - a proposal that received short shrift from the PM.' | Yet more trouble for the witch. 'A FEROCIOUS internal row in the SNP ramped up today after Joanna Cherry accused a senior SNP MP of "lies and smears.'' Ms Cherry was sacked as the party's Westminster home affairs spokeswoman in a shake-up of the SNP's top team yesterday. The high profile party member was dropped from her position without even being mentioned in a party press release announcing the reshuffle. A lawyer by trade, Ms Cherry is a close ally of Alex Salmond and has been a critic of Nicola Sturgeon's leadership of the SNP. After being sacked from her role, she tweeted to criticise the approach taken by the party on its push for independence. She said: "Westminster is increasingly irrelevant to Scotland’s constitutional future and the SNP would do well to radically rethink our strategy." | More trouble for the eu and vdl. 'URSULA von der Leyen's swiftly aborted bid to blockade vaccine imports from Northern Ireland has left Dublin "in shock" and fuelled growing euroscepticism within the Irish Republic, a former diplomat has said. And Ray Bassett said the entire episode merely emphasised how expendable Ireland was in the eyes of eurocrats in Brussels. On Friday, the European Commission, led by President von der Leyen, announced it was triggering clauses in the Northern Irish Protocol to prevent COVID-19 vaccines from moving across the open border from Ireland to Northern Ireland.' | From your birthland harve... 'A GERMAN journalist has issued a humbling Brexit apology after admitting the EU's vaccine crisis has exposed the bloc's frailties and vindicated the UK's decision to quit. Peter Tiede, the chief political reporter for Bild, expressed his fury over the poor vaccination programme in the EU. Not only did he express his concern for member states but he also claimed EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen had “disgraced Europe”. While the UK has almost vaccinated close to six million people, in Germany, vaccination appointments for the elderly have been cancelled.' | And more trouble.. 'THERE is growing anger in Spain at the EU and Michel Barnier for giving up Madrid's sovereignty claims over Gibraltar, with one leading Spanish MP lashing out at Brussels' power over Spain. There was a furious response directed at Michel Barnier and the EU in Spain after politicians accused Brussels of giving up Madrid's sovereignty claims on Gibraltar. Last week, the Spanish Parliament voted in favour of temporary Brexit mitigating measures which include an in-principle agreement over Gibraltar negotiated by the UK, Spain and the EU. However, several leading Spanish political figures ripped into the deal as one that "only favours Gibraltar and the United Kingdom, and goes against Spanish interests". | The problems mount up for the eu.. 'THE EU's future was plunged into doubt after Sweden warned it was "under threat and could vote Swexit" once the UK left, a leading financial analyst claimed. With the UK free from the shackles of Brussels, and now able to control its own destiny, euroscepticism throughout the bloc has risen, with envious eyes looking at how Britain fares on its own. Alongside a weak euro, as well as the EU's botched handling of the coronavirus vaccine roll-out, the likes of the Netherlands, Sweden and Italy have witnessed anti-Brussels rhetoric rise. | Interesting letter from Sammy Wilson, DUP MP for East Antrim..... 'It was naive of Her Majesty’s Government to believe that they could renege on the promises they made to the unionist population, to achieve a quick fix agreement with the European Union, without consequence. The fettering of trade between Great Britain and Northern Ireland has now regrettably led to threats against staff at both Larne and Belfast Ports.' The beginning of the last paragraph sums up the eu very well. 'The EU had no qualms in tossing aside the protocol when it wished to deflect from its bureaucratic and political incompetence regarding Covid vaccines.' Britain's bid to join the Pacific area free trade CPTPP seems to be gaining momentun and any success in that direction will surely have Sweden, Netherlands and Italy examining the outcome with extreme interest. If all four nations were to up sticks and leave, would others like Poland, Austria and Hungary follow suit? I imagine this scenario might well have entered the minds of those in Brussels, Berlin and Paris and who would be less than happy that their clout within the nations of Europe would be severely curtailed.

| Oh dear, poor bbc.... 'Ros Atkins shone a light on the paradoxical EU positions over the last few weeks including their proposals for a Northern Irish border despite years of campaigning against such measures. The BBC presenter highlighted how the bloc's failures to secure a working vaccination contract reflects badly on them since they could not communicate what they wanted. The video, which has gone viral, was met with praise as they enjoyed the free-speaking presenter and his entertaining criticisms. Speaking on BBC's Outside Source, Mr Atkins presented a five-minute dissection of the EU coming under pressure to deliver on vaccinations.' | So glad we are out... EU OFFICIALS "govern in secret" while "not operating democratically", a leading academic told Express.co.uk, as cracks in the bloc continue to emerge. Critics of Brussels this week blasted the bureaucratic nature of the bloc following the delay of its mass vaccination programme. It came as European civil servants raced to rectify its poor start after European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen threatened to cut vaccine supplies to Britain and trigger Article 16, creating a hard border on the island of Ireland. Following momentous backlash, Ms von der Leyen backtracked, and assured that no such "vaccine nationalism" would take place.' | Troublesome academic telling us about the eu.... 'THE EU was humiliated after a leading academic shed light on the bloc's tactics to keep member states "equally discontented" by drawing a parallel with the failed Austro-Hungarian Empire. Brussels struggled to grapple with its vaccination programme failures this week, as well as its humiliating backtracking after it threatened to cut-off vaccine supplies to Britain. The bloc has since attempted to give its position credibility after it lashed out at providers for not being quick enough to distribute coronavirus vaccine doses to member states. A similar charge was made at it by the two European leaders who are largely regarded as sitting atop Brussels' hierarchy, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron.' | From a few days ago... 'Britain finally left the EU on December 31 after signing a lucrative Trade and Corporation Agreement with the bloc worth more than £600billion to the UK economy. Fishing proved to be one of the most divisive issues of the landmark deal and, under the terms of the agreement, the UK will leave the Common Fisheries Policy and will gradually reduce the number of EU catches in British waters to 25 percent by 2026. The European Union has set up a burden-sharing equation to distribute the financial loss around the member states, but Ireland has claimed it is set to take the biggest hit. Agriculture Minister Charlie McConalogue says the financial loss for Ireland in terms of the price of its catches in UK waters will be double that of any other EU nation. Britain will also take a larger share of most species of its fish and the losses for Ireland is set to be felt most in a reduction in mackerel – its most valuable catch. Speaking to officials at the Agriculture and Fisheries Council, Mr McConalogue said: “A disproportionate burden is being borne by Ireland in relation to the package of fish quotas being transferred from the EU to the UK under the Trade and Cooperation Agreement.' | For the witch lovers... 'ALEX Salmond has branded the SNP led Scottish Government headed by Nicola Sturgeon as a "disgrace" following a Scottish Parliamentary inquiry concerning him. Mr Salmond made the comments in a submission to the Holyrood inquiry which is investigating the handling of harassment complaints against the former first minister. The Scottish Government's Handling of Harassment Complaints Committee was set up after the Court of Session in Edinburgh ruled the Scottish Government's handling of complaints against the former first minister to be "unlawful" in a judicial review. This resulted in a £512,250 in legal costs being paid out to Mr Salmond's lawyers. Mr Salmond was also separately cleared in March of several sexual offence allegations made against him in court. In the submission published today, Mr Salmond said he was "deeply concerned" about launching judicial review proceedings "given what it might mean for both the First Minister and the SNP." [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Ireland has loads of its own water but they have to share it with the EU. At present they still catch shit loads of Salmon headed for our rivers but we have had to take all the nets off our rivers. As our Mackerel catches have declined theirs have increased and with pair trawlers and purse seiners they catch whole shoals a massive redress of the system is needed. |

| 'Britons hoping to stay a part of the EU hardly ever argued about what happened in Brussels, skimming the bloc's vast misgivings, Robert Tombs, the renowned historian, told Express.co.uk. The EU this week stumbled at the most important hurdle in tackling the continent's coronavirus pandemic. Member states watched on as vaccines, produced by AstraZeneca, left production facilities in Belgium and the Netherlands, headed for the UK. Countries across Europe last year agreed to hand power to the EU to negotiate the purchase of vaccines on behalf of them. The bloc sold it as an opportunity to reduce costs and avoid competition arising between member states. They were still able to strike separate deals with vaccine makers that the EU does not have an agreement with - Hungary has agreed to buy two millions doses of Russia's Sputnik-V vaccine. Brussels has yet to agree on a rolling-out method of the vaccine, however, with its "bureaucratic" nature cited by many as the reason for the delay. It led to the bloc threatening to cut those supplies leaving Belgium and the Netherlands, doses that the UK had already bought. The crisis exposed splits in the EU's seams, with German Chancellor hopeful Markus Söder condemning the "inadequate" purchasing procedure, hinting at Europe's fear that Britain will "benefit economically" as its vaccine programme becomes one of the world's biggest.'
