They've added the Canaries and Balearics as well now They have yeah. Instead of caving in and giving quarantine air bridges to the Islands, they’ve gone the other way and tightened it. It’ll cripple the travel industry, but the alternative ain’t palatable. Catch 22 in’umm. |

It’ll cripple the travel industry, but the alternative ain’t palatable. Catch 22 in’umm. Gov is damned if it does and damned if it doesn't. I'm pretty sure the gov realise they will get a kicking sooner or later for not dealing with the Italy returnees in an appropriate manner back in February so are covering their arses. Also if you look at the skyline in the Costas and the islands you can just see what sort of holidays are being taken, packages in large hotel/apartment blocks shared dining facilities, bars and pools plus crowded minibuses and coaches from the airports. It's an accident waiting to happen and should never have been allowed in the first place. |

| I was following the worldometers table avidly throughout March and into April. It all got a bit too depressing then so haven’t studied it that much since. |

| According to Gov.uk R rate in SW is 0.7 to 1.0 putting us almost exactly the same as rest of uk who are all between 0.7 and 1.0. The worrying thing is that we were lower than rest of country now we've caught up. |

According to one medical expert, we are two to three weeks away from a second wave here ? The self isolation period is to be raised to ten days instead of seven. |

Regional figures can be misleading, my point is in the South West do we have spikes in small towns or is it Bristol and Burnham? It would be good to know, my fear is that they don't want to publish any more detail in case it affects the tourist industry down here. |

I did read last week that Brizzle have had one or two rises recently, and of course Burnham some weeks ago. Oldham, Blackburn and Leicester still in a spot of bother. Oldham have introduced some measures to avoid a lockdown. According to the local rag, there have been small rises in Plymouth |

| Twas always going to happen once lock-down restrictions were eased. The problem is that certain sections of society seem to think the virus is done and dusted, and it's carry on as normal.
We'll be playing wack-a-mole with spikes for a good 18 months I reckon! |

| Not sure how this time Hancock, Johnson and the Rat Faced weasel Cummings are going to talk themselves out of the brutal ONS report today over excess deaths with England the worst in Europe bar none
Doubtless Cummings is compiling a jingoistic slogan to absolve this criminal Government of blame. |

| Hancock is just comedy Gold. Inept beyond even Johnson
I wonder if older members remember "Blott on the Landscape" from the BBC in 1986 with Simon Cadell playing "Dundridge" a Government minister responsible for "manoeuvres" so inept it was utterly comical.... Hancock is a spitting image of the character literally facially and in actions...Hapless |

| Completed my ipsos mori Covid test and survey this morning apart from nearly spewing when I swabbed my throat it was pretty easy. Hardest thing was making the box up was all a bit Blue Peter including sticky back plastic. It will be interesting to see whether they send me an antibody test as I ticked the box that says I think I've had it which was back in December. |

We'll be playing wack-a-mole with spikes for a good 18 months I reckon! Leicester coming out of restrictions so I hear. Pubs and restaurants can open very-very soon. A firm in Avonmouth have reported a load of cases. That is local-ish to us. Cornwall have seen rises, albeit small ones. Plymouth have five and those that have caught it could well have caught it off someone who may be asymptomatic ?. That is the scary thing about this virus, people not knowing that they have it and spread randomly. Four million up north got to change plans hastily. A few in the Muslim communities are suggesting that they are being picked on.

| Just seen on Sky News that scientific advisors are not confident that the R- rate is below 1, even though it is has been stated that it is between 0.8 - 0.9.
According to one of the rags, infections have risen 63% in two weeks and BJ is warning he could role out what is happening in the north to the wider country.

The truth of the matter is if you look at chart of where the spikes are happening ( not generalising like Greater Manchester) in local communities, then those spikes show a seriously disproportionate rise in Asian communities. It isn’t racist to state that. It is actual fact. It may be that these communities are more susceptible. It may be that they are ignoring the basic rules. If I were a betting man I’d say it’s probably a combo of both. |

Loads of the customers were Asians and they were a dry rot treaters dream, generally they lived in very crowded houses usually with three generations all together, always had steaming pots on the stove and never opened their windows. |
