| I walked past this absolute tip this morning, piles of broken tarmac, weed abundance, litter and a stinking portable toilet. It has signage claiming it to be a construction site, if so perhaps Mr Brent can explain why he has left a building site insecure as the heras fencing is wide open in places, I do believe that leaving construction sites insecure is a Major Non Compliance in the world of health & safety. I think I might give the HSE a little phone call tomorrow. |

| Sorry for stating the outright obvious but why does Plymouth need an ice rink? The kidney rink was barely used. |

Maybe because it was 'kidney' shaped, small and pretty useless as an ice rink. A 'decent' sized ice rink (not Jimbos frozen puddle) would be a huge hit, imho, with Muffers. As a big NHL fan, I can only despair if Brent get's his way and builds a totally unfit-for-purpose pile of frozen shite. |

the kidney shaped one was awful. If plymouth has to have an ice rink its better to have one fit for purpuse for the public and or for events. |

I might stand to be corrected on this but isn't the proposed ice rink well below the standard required for the English hockey league? |

| Jimmy could knock down the Pavilions for redevelop by moving the concerts and basketball to utilise the shed at HHP. |

build a decent ice arena in hhp one where there were both a public rink and a competive rink with seating capacity that could home the raiders basketball and host several other events 365 including ice hockey team, ice sating shows music concerts. that would make money instead on an ice shed. but thats a pipe dream. |

It's likely the problem in him doing that and providing a multi purpose facility such as Coventry Skydome would mean grant money would be very limited or non existent whereas a stand alone ice shed would attract grants form the the relevant sporting council. |

But as i stated in my idea there is a public rink so that would get the grant if anything. |

| Do not forget, he sold half the land back to Argyle though Mr Hallett for a lot of money. quote(The Pilgrims’ new majority owner admitted it was costing ‘a lot of money’ but he believes it will be ‘better for the club’ ) |

| Brent doing what Brent does best innit. Squat on land until the place looks uninhabitable and then sell on at vast profit. The ultimate parasite. |

| Whatever he builds will be the bare minimum, mind you PCC needs to cop some stick for this in equal measures as they are the ones who set up the deal, they could have stipulated a fit for purpose ice rink but they didn't. |

he still ownes that land by the vets though doesnt he? don’t think he ever owed that piece of land though it was part of his plan I believe he did put his toe in the water to see how the land lied if you like with the council plus I think the guy who Actually owned the vets didn’t want to sell in the end I think but that was a while back now...so not sure if his had another more recent crack at obtaining it though |

| He has an office down near Annabel's nightclub on the barbican. I drove past him in my car and gave him dogs loads of abuse some months back.
He can maintain such an income because he delivers on nothing... his business plan is to squat on land until people get absolutely tired of nothing happening and then buy him off at a profit which is how he makes money.
How the Aviva faithful hold him in such high regard is astounding, the blokes an utter scumbag. |

| James Brent: How I'm paying for £100m developments
Cash exists to get the ambitious Home Park and Pavilions projects started - but investors and partners are being sought, says the Argyle chief
Redeveloping both the Pavilions and Plymouth Argyle sites will cost a whopping £100million – but businessman James Brent said he has got enough cash to at least get the projects started.
Mr Brent said about £5million needed to redevelop the main grandstand at Argyle’s Home Park stadium has already been provided by club director Simon Hallett.
he said his own “family resources” are robust enough to deliver a new ice rink at Higher Home Park.
The Home Park land is owned by Mr Brent’s pension fund James Brent SSAS.
As for the Pavilions site, a £65million re-development could see an arthouse cinema, two hotels, bars, restaurants and 350 flats build once the ice rink and disused swimming pool are demolished.
Mr Brent said he is already in talks with potential investors who would partner with his companies to build on the 6.5-acre patch.
We are talking to investors who are interested in coming alongside us,” he said. “We won’t do this on our own.”
