No Appeal Over Sawyer Red
Captain to Miss Three Games

ARGYLE have decided against making an appeal over the sending-off of Gary Sawyer against Newport County.

The Pilgrims' skipper was shown the red card by referee Ollie Yates following his tackle on County's Jordan Green in the final minutes of Argyle's 1-0 win over the Exiles at Home Park.

As a result, defender Gary will miss three Sky Bet League Two games, away to Colchester United, on Saturday, February 8, and Salford City, on Tuesday, February 11, and at home to Crewe Alexandra on Saturday, February 15.

smart decision there was no way they were going to win that appeal. Given the knocks gary has taken in recent games this 3 game break might do him some good.

Could have went either way and the panel always back the ref unless its a clear error so thats the correct decision in my book.

Just watched the replay looked like sliding in with both feet studs up, red card nine times out of ten. I echo Freathys sentiments he was shocking three years ago I was at a loss when kept on this season.

Only watched replays, but in todays refereeing climate - looks a deffo straight red card. Sawyer has been a loyal long serving player, but whether we get promoted or not it's time to wave goodbye. Would be welcomed by Wotton no doubt.

he went late and high with the sliding tackle there was no way any pannel would over turn that scenario. Red card was justify here.

Should have been jogged on two seasons ago
Couldn’t believe his luck when offered him another 2year deal or in fact he couldn’t sign it quick enough being the first to sign it followed by Glass ankles Taylor we know why he signed injured all the time and a stone & half overweight sarcevic at the time were the first 3 to sign the new deals offered
But going back to sawyer if he didn’t sign I reckon that would have been signing for a national league side somewhere no doubt
