| Indeed, my company went down the feck British Seamen in favour of cheap Poles years ago, still a few Brits sticking it out until retirement though.
Classic Tory dogma, feck training, feck the future, short term profit is all. I wonder when ships will start to tie up when they run out of crew? _______________________________________ COYG!

| So the latest announcement from Boris, 'advising' people not to go to theatres, pubs, clubs etc is yet another half baked measure designed, not so much to keep the population safe, but to avoid compensation payments.
They're not banning events because they would have to provide financial support for the affected industry. They're advising people not to go to events, because if it's their decision they can't claim a refund, and if they do decide to carry on with an event, no emergency services will be provided, but it's their choice entirely.
They're not closing pubs, just telling people not to go. So if they want to lay off staff it's up to them, nothing to do with the government.
By 'advising' people not to attend the theatre and not enforcing a shutdown, production insurance will not apply leaving many on the verge of bankruptcy and thousands of jobs at risk.
Cynical and calculated. |

| There's only so much in the pot, paying 60 million people to stay at home indefinitely is unrealistic, why should everyone be compensated? That's a sad consequence of modern day thinking, the demand/expectation to never be inconvenienced or out of pocket, thankfully the generations of 1914 and 1939 didn't have the same mindset. |

| No one will bat an eyelid when Branson gets chucked a billion to keep his airline afloat yet he has the money to pay it himself. I do feel for pubs and shops yet as PP says they will be lucky to get any sympathy from most of the public and feck all from the government. On another note I got told today of confirmed cases in Gunny and Horrabridge yet how are they confirmed when they are only testing people in hospital? Facebook wankers getting their kicks imo. |

| Four cases in Plymouth so far then, let's hope it does not increase and become a major hotspot.
Government saying there could be 50,000+ infected in UK at present.
Yanks have started vaccine trials with a small number of people, but it will be months before all trials are conducted and a vaccine ready for general use.

Cynical and calculated. he should be enforcing as much as he can closures of not only them but gyms and leisure centres as they are a haven for bugs at the best of times ive stopped going to my gym since friday till this is starting to die down whenever that might be. China seems to be returning to normal for now maybe there method works till we find a vaccine that works. |

| Some boffins are a tad concerned about this lockdown business in Europe and elsewhere. They are saying that when these lockdowns end and everybody gets back to normal life, the virus could flare up again and all countries go back to square one again They also added that the virus could be more aggressive a second time around.
WHO saying people are still contagious for two weeks after symptoms have gone LINK |

BBL is postpone until further notice maybe till next season so Raiders are off aswell. The National League (football) has suspended all fixtures until 3 April and the Football Association has advised all grassroots football in England be postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak. |

Possibly The virus has travelled a long way since that original post, unreal. There were people queuing up outside the local chemist earlier, even more unreal. And the local co-op is out of a lot of stock, again. |

| I have found that the Tesco in our area is coping better than the Sainsburys down the road. Today Sainsburys had no carrots, potatoes, fresh chicken, mince beef, pasta, rice, tinned tomatoes, tinned pies ( Father in Law likes Frey Bentos pies), milk and frozen veg.
Yes, the Tesco had some empty shelves but I got all the above there all be it with amount restrictions on some bits. _______________________________________ I'm one of the common people so says the wife! | Sri Lanka is going into lockdown going to have to cut trip short if we can get hold of airlines who seem to be selfisolating and having a screen break as well
The local money changers don't want sterling and rate is site at the banks. Guest houses and restaurants ate shutting down the season is ending early. I could stick it out for a couple of weeks but it wouldn't be much fun. At least we have food unlike you lot. On the upside the surf breaks are lovely and quiet. |

| Word on the beach is that we will be screened at Heathrow with an infant red camera and asked to self isolate at home which is a piece of piss for us. Interesting that the locals are blaming travellers for the outbreak yet only 2 of 57 confirmed cases are foreigners the rest are islanders mainly returning from working in Italy. ST are meant to be bringing our flight home forward but they won't answer phones or emails so we are carrying on as normal. I could still be here for my slotted month. |

| I see on the news and hear on the radio that authorities are angry with the youngsters who continue to ignore all advice given to them, still going out to socialise.
The youngsters are saying that covid-19 won't hit them hard and they don't see a problem with it.

the thing is if the youngsters and the arrogant pricks wh keep striiping shelves at supermarkets dont start acting with commonsense we all will be in enforced lock down with the military patrolling the streets to make sure we stay in our homes unless with clearance. We shouldnt need to get to that stage but with each passing day and arrogant fecks are still stockpiling and not taking care of themselves its going to be a reality. |

I just love my Father in Law (80 years old). He's been out shopping for 'essentials' even though the advice is stay at home by the Authorities, my Wife and Brothers in law. He came home an hour or so later with a piece of carpet for his hallway! _______________________________________ I'm one of the common people so says the wife! This is the long and short of it for me. Tescos and Morrisons can try to introduce limiting people to 3 of each etc but they obviously are having problems enforcing it for real. Most young people these days (and certain adults) have zero respect for any sort of enforcement or rules. A couple of warning rounds 5.56mm over their heads might be the only way to go unfortunatly. |

| We have now bought tickets home cannot get hold of airline travel agents to change the ones we have they are all in meltdown. Police have imposed a three day evening curfew from 6.30pm to 8.30am whilst they try and track down some people who have avoided quarantine. If you want selfish that's pretty high on the list imo. Shops here are still stocked as normal I guess they don't do Facebook hence no hysteria maybe a lesson to be learned there? |
