The Legacy of Brents self sustainability continues.

Seriously just how much did that Shyster Brent take out of the Club. Without Hallett its clear we'd have been in admin again a long time ago.

multi million pound rehash (that was late and over budget) of an out of date stand keeping the two big flaws that fans for years have hated while at the sametime making it virtually impossible to expand in the future seems to be money well spent doesnt it!!!! thankyou reluctant one.

Again it makes you wonder how much it would have cost just to knock the thing down and start again. These costs that keep on being added are surely due to the bepoke nature of the product and I'm sure you could had an off the shelf build that would have been reasonably priced and deliver a far better outcome

It would have been more worthwhile for all concerned football and indeed corporate, its not going to be long before the bottom rows start going empty cause the roof doesnt cover them in winter summer of course it will be great and the poles that block views start annoying people also before the club realise that oh shit its not going to be long before we have to do something about it. No way the corner in between barn and mayflower is getting built now so this is it now for cpaacity and future intentions...buckle up buckaroos

On Planet Bungo, this extra cash has gone on tarting the place up

Bungo's Blog wrote:
quietly agree to a number of upgrades to the project which will be really noticeable when you are in there. At an additional cost of several hundreds of thousands of pounds, improved fixtures, fittings and finishes really lift the already great end result, and the addition of things like high-end resin floors throughout the grandstand will aid maintenance and longevity, as well as look fantastic.

He really thinks we are stupid to suggest £1.5 million has been spent on nicer paint, we're obviously still losing money despite The Fine Gentleman (I quote from the Farm) steadying the ship.

So basically we can afford to splash cash on "resin floors" but we can't afford a decent feckin roof without pillars

£18M valuation of the club based on his shares. Proves he isn't planning on going anywhere soon or he is plain daft.

Look forward to the transparency explanation of what final costs for development are. When you add £1.5M that GTs have spent got to be well north of 10M now. Si must regret not being in early enough to pay off Brent and do stand and HHP properly.

Tbf I know which job I'd rather pay for and as an added bonus if the roof leaks then the floor won't get ruined.

Unless he had an 8 figure sum sat in his bank account 3 years ago,  he's obviously a front man. Either for a person/group of investors who want to keep their involvement secret or who would not even pass the FL's ludicrously low "fit & proper" standards

LOL..  So what's their plan?  How do they get the many millions "they've" spent back?  Because as we know...  There are multitudes rockin' up to buy fourth tier football clubs who are losing money every season!

Couple good points there.

He's put money in that, unless we were to get to the Prem, he is highly unlikely to ever see a return on. He's clearly quite literally 'bought in' to the green dream, because his academic qualifications and his obvious financial business nous are unquestionable.

Agree totally that it's a shame he wasn't on the scene two or three years earlier before Brents Mankover plan was signed and sealed.

It is a shame. Hallett would have probably gone down a very different route and not lumbered the club with the mankover debacle for the rest of the time Argo are at Home Park. Every time we look at (or get soaked sitting in) that ludicrous inadequate stand with its tiny roof we will forever be reminded of brent.

I'll admit that my eyes rolled back pretty far when you first told us that Hallett had silly money, but fair play, it's looking like that's the case.

Yes, that is my impression the ongoing ground development would have been more appropriate for the clubs long term needs if SH had pitched up initially instead of the shyster. Obviously at the moment the Mayflower looks far better than before it was 'renovated' but ultimately it still has a skeleton of 60yr old steel, view obstructing pillars and an inadequate roof, so it really was a opportunity lost.
Same for me - the couple of times I have been to the ground this season and look at the stand I think of Bent.

You tell me! What was the plan when Gardner Todd Kagami etc got involved? When he true owners of the Club never saw the team play. Perhaps history is repeating itself, cos as sure as eggs is eggs a guy who doesn't own the bank, doesn't make a 7 or 8 figure sum investing other people's money. And like Brent, the really smart people don't use their own money-just ask the Glazer family.

No. You tell us. You're the one making outrageous claims with no foundation to back it up whatsoever. As for people being unable to make a 7 or 8 figure sum unless they owned a bank? What? Have you been living under a rock or something, there's countless examples. And fyi.. SH has made his fortune using other peoples money - it's called 'asset management' and he appears to be very good at it.

Same old claptrap that was trotted out in support of the previous owner-and the previous previous owners who guided the club into receivership. Do you even understand what asset management is? It's investing OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY for a fee or a small percentage of the profits you make for them. As for him being good at managing money, he can't even do a half decent Cash flow forecast or else he wouldn't need to keep putting money in every couple of months at one of the best supported teams in the lower Leagues.

The way some people are going on, you'd think he was stuffing tenners into the pockets of everyone who turns up for a game. He's running a private business  where the customers are called "supporters" and at some point in the future he'll sell that business for a profit (hopefully after getting into the Championship)  In the meantime, he's no different to the owner of your local pub-you  go there cos you like what's on offer, but you don't treat him like some Messiah just because he has the cellar decorated.
