| In layman’s terms this is Greg Strongs ‘chief scout’ role then.
What is slightly alarming is that Adams knows of no one within ‘football’ that either fits the bill, or will accept the salary. |

| Derek Adams has admitted Plymouth Argyle are looking to hire a head of player of recruitment to take some of the burden off him.
The plan is for the chosen candidate to be in place in time to prepare for the summer transfer window.
The closing date for applications is March 15 and Adams is hoping that Argyle can attract someone with a proven track record in this area.
Adams told Plymouth Live: “We are looking for a head of recruitment to come in and do a wee bit more than be a chief scout.
“They will oversee the recruitment side of the first team and the reserves and set down a marker about taking in players for next season really.
“We would like to try and get someone with experience of knowing the leagues and getting good players into other teams.”
Greg Strong was Argyle’s north-west based chief scout until the he quit in November.
He took on a head of recruitment role at ambitious National League club Salford City.
Strong had combined talent spotting with assessing future opponents for Argyle.
After his departure, it meant there was more weight put on the shoulders of Adams in terms of plater recruitment.
Adams said: “It was becoming more and more difficult. You need assistance.
“Greg Strong was the chief scout but he was going to matches to watch the opposition, and then we were trying to get players in at the same time.
“Now we are going to change that and they will solely be looking at players to come into the football club.”
As far as watching future opponents is concerned, Adams has a plan for that too.
He said: “We don’t scout the opposition. We changed that role before Greg Strong left.
“Instead of going live to the matches – if we would, we would go ourselves – we use a lot of different platforms to scout the opposition now.” |

| Taking on head of recruitment seems to means someone taking on more work for less money. I saw a headline along the lines if argyle changing the way they recruit players and briefly wondered if it involved something radical like paying a transfer fee |

| "different platforms to scout opposition"
That'll be the Sunday morning highlights on Quest
It's a sad state of affairs when Torquay, three leagues lower than us, have a more professional set-up.
Never mind signing Joe Mason, at this rate we'll be competing with Truro for new signings. |
