Xenophobic.
Hardly. For instance, due to the way the internet started a huge percentage of domains were sucked up by American dot coms. The co.uk or co.au thing came about because of domain squatting but most of all demand for regional solutions. I have been researching some health matters and food regulation recently, and find much of the information out there is based on the US system which is pointless for me as I come under different laws and medical models. For instance, your chickens are washed in chlorine, that is not the case here. The only way to narrow down some info is to make sure it is UK based. If I want info on Hollywood I'll use a dot com, which is more likely to be American. The internet is full of contradiction and competing ideologies. I like to know where my information comes from. If you're looking for xenophobia I suggest you look no further than your own president.
If you ever go into business yourself, you'll find out the the locale shop front is very important. Many people are unhappy with multi nationals and prefer to deal locally. That's a fact, and certainly not xenophobic. Where do you buy your bread from ?
