How i wish i got an Albion season ticket this year like i was so tempted to do. Its a shame i wont be able to watch them as much this season as their home games mainly fall on the same day as argyle's.

Only once in their history have they ever consistently matched Exeter or the Pirates as a functioning healthy rugby club.
Plymouth is a football town if anything, although it's big enough to accomodate a bit of forces led rugby.
Should be called Devonport Albion really. Argaum were the real Plymouth rugby hub jocolor

Nearly all the Albion fans I know now watch Chiefs regularly including a couple of ex Albion players, fickle fookers are the rugger buggers.

I know Graham Dawe as well he would be more likely to watch Argyle than Albion at the moment.

That sorry excuse of a paper only bothers reporting on Argyle and tend to ignore Albion, Raiders and Devils aswell as other local teams if poss. Other sports tend to have the odd report as a mention only.

Still no report and it was to remember former legend Gary Lovell

Plymouth Albion 68 Fylde 15

By Paddy Marsh at Brickfields

In front of a number of former players who returned to Brickfields to remember former legend Gary Lovell, Plymouth Albion turned on the style to run in ten tries against a young Fylde side.

Albion will be slightly disappointed with their first half showing against winless Fylde who themselves played well in the first 40.

Albion led by 11 points at the break but it was a totally different story in the second period as Albion ran in tries at regular intervals.

Star of the show for Plymouth was fly half Dan Mugford who got one of Albion’s tries and converted nine for a personal tally of 23 points.

Sarah Raine left the Herald to set up online only Plymouth paper. They now seem to only concentrate on the local league clubs.

Not sure what their intentions are for the Creek Social Club, but with the MOD stalling on the Rec rebuild, wouldn't have been good for it to also fall into disrepair

Shorely the tv is missing a trick not covering the bowls up on the Hoe. People will watch anything these days. Thinking of televising my next walk on the coast path. WCPW, we're top drawer down here. The cup of tea is a real highlight.

If anyone is interested. The national shit-flicking championship is being held at the Bullers Arms - Tideford, tonight. Starts at 20:00.

Entry is free, but you do have to own pre-soiled pants on entry.

Not in the Herald on line web site

Loughborough Students 28 Plymouth Albion 49

by Paddy Marsh

Plymouth Albion took their current winning sequence to four matches with a good seven tries to four win at Loughborough Students.

Albion, not for the first time this season, weren’t particularly impressive in the first half and were fortunate to be level at the break.

It was a different story in the second period with Albion running in a further four tries to run out fairly comfortable winners.

Albion head coach Kieran Hallett although pleased with the five points wasn’t particularly happy with the performance of his side.

Hallett said, “It was a funny type of game. We have put 49 points on a good side without getting out of second gear.

“We travelled on the same day and maybe that had something to do with us being a little flat in the first half.

“Loughborough caught us napping in the first half but in the second half we had more territory and always back ourselves when we get 5 metres out.”

When asked to mark the Albion performance out of 10 Hallett gave it a “6 or 7 with things to work on”.

Plymouth got off to the perfect start when a catch and drive set up near the 22 was driven over with hooker Jamie Salter getting the touchdown.

Fly half Dan Mugford converted before Loughborough hit back with two tries in three minutes.

Winger Joakim Antoniou on the overlap claimed the first and flanker Max Hill crossed for the second home try.

Fly half Thomas Ffitch converted both Loughborough tries.

Albion levelled matters midway through the first half when prop Will Norton forced his way over with Mugford adding the extras.

Loughborough went ahead for a second time when hooker C allum Lynch finished off a catch and drive with Ffitch converting.

Back came Albion who added a third try scored by Salter in identical fashion to his first.

Mugford converted to send the sides into the interval level on 21-21.

Shortly after half time Albion secured the try bonus point when powerful centre Seta Raumakita powered over from the 22.

Loughborough were then reduced to 14 when lock Henry Wheadon was yellow carded and Albion took full advantage by scoring try number five.

Mugford got the score after cleverly putting through a grubber kick and then getting the touchdown himself.

Loughborough got their bonus point try when the impressive full back Tim Bitirim weaved his way under the posts for a fine individual score.

Albion finished the stronger of the two sides and added two tries both scored by Jack Arnott.

The wingers first try came off a fine running line with his second being an interception right on the home try line.

Mugford who finished with a personal tally of 19 points added four second half conversions to finish with a 100% kicking record.

Next up for Albion is the visit of Cambridge to Brickfields next Saturday.

Tries: Antoniou, Hill, Lynch, Bitirim

Cons: Ffitch 4

Still going... gates are not quite what they need to be but they have a promotion who actually listen and respond to the fans on a regular basis. They always front up where necessasry and explain why they have made certain decisions. Just the other week they were getting grief an early abandonment so invited the critics out onto the shale to judge the track conditions for themselves. I just hope they choose to continue into 2018.

On the track it's been a mixed bag of a season. A slow start in the league meant no play offs but they have got to the final of the National Trophy.

First leg tonight (Friday to clarify) and they're in with a good chance of winning it too.
