| [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Todays 'newspaper' has more propaganda from Martyn Starnes, no other reporter/Herald employee is credited with the story, does he decide what to write and publish himself? and this 'story' is not open for people to comment upon. |

| Is he employed by PAFC who are only getting "healthy competition" from the HHP development or Akkeron? |

Where is this increase in revenue streams for the club going to come from when most of the development is nothing to do with it? And what proportion of those revenues will be made as a result of stealing the park and ride car park from residents who rely on it? |

| The gullible Greenies will lap it up, those lovely images look great, yippee we're getting a shiny new stand and it will bring in £100 million to the local economy over the coming years. Whats not to like? |

| By the time you knock off the interest payments due on Mr Hallett's loan I reckon they'll be lucky to break even. |

| Wouldn't it be ironic in years to come if the club end up servicing the Hallett "mortgage" alongside having to pay rent for a stadium that has been "purchased" from them. |

| Question. If this development is so marvellous for the club, the fans and the city, why haven't we heard a peep from any of the other directors? It's obvious a massive damage limitation campaign's been launched (ie PR's been taken away from Newell), so why aren't they doing their bit? |

| I'm sure you are right Peggy, just wondering aloud if it might influence say, a newspapers sport writers line of questioning should said reporters wife work for the club being reported upon.

| Fair point Peggy.
Mods - can you delete the post quoting my message please and my original message please? On reflection should just concentrate on Errington's lack of journalistic spine as opposed to any connections with his family.
(Done by seadog, I also deleted reg Green's duplicate post. I could have deleted some insults too if there had been any, FFS!)

I think its a very valid point, how can he be impartial reporting on his partners boss? |

| Well for starters, nobody at the Herald - or the WMN for that matter - is challenging any of this, so it's nothing to do with one person's family, especially since his byline isn't on any of the three stories from that stable about the development.
More important, though, is the fact that sniping at individuals who aren't in a position to do anything deflects attention from those who are - like the other directors, for example.

| We need to remember that Errington is a sports reporter not an investigative journalist. |

| I can see both sides of this. I think as a sports journalist Errington is pretty decent. But quite clearly his willingness to rock the boat and question more critically, is impaired hugely with his wife being employed by the club. It'd create a massive conflict of interest personally and professionally. All the same, it doesn't do any harm to point this out. |

So like sports reporters, football writers say, have to hand over say FIFA corruption allegations to special investigative journalists? |
