oh its some one from the imbreds up the road

JOEL Grant has crossed the Devon divide to become Argyle’s latest summer signing.

The 29-year-old Jamaican international attacker has journeyed down the Devon Expressway and up a division to sign for Pilgrims' manager Derek Adams from Exeter City.

Joel made 28 appearances for the Grecians last season, with his last start coming in the Sky Bet League Two Play-Off Final defeat by Blackpool at Wembley. He began for City in the Pilgrims’ 2-0 league victory over Exeter at St James' Park during the 2017-18 campaign, but was absent in the Home Park return which Argyle won 3-0.

London-born, he has won 14 caps for the Jamaican national side, scoring twice, with the latest of his appearances coming in May 2016 when he scored the winner in a 2-1 victory over Chile in Vina del Mar.

Joel came through the youth set-up at Watford in 2005 and made his debut for the Championship side whilst still a 17-year-old.

After another nine matches for the Hornets, he went on loan to National Conference side Aldershot Town, making the move permanent at the beginning of the 2007-08 campaign after he failed to break into Watford’s Premier League side.

His form saw him picked up for a six-figure sum by League One Crewe Alexandra, for who he scored 18 goals in 85 starts before moving on to fellow League One side Wycombe Wanderers in 2011. After 16 goals in 68 starts, he joined Yeovil Town, then newly promoted to the Championship.

After two years at Huish Park, during which Yeovil dropped back down into League Two, he was released by manager Paul Sturrock and signed for Exeter City, where a sizeable portion of his salary was paid by a group of supporters.

Joel heads to Home Park having scored nine goals in 59 games as a Grecian, the last of which saw him miss out on a promotion to League One that he has now belatedly secured.

Another truly shocking signing, these players are fourth division journeymen yet its seems a club that averaged over nine and a half thousand and will charge twenty three quid a pop to  get in can only afford this level of signing??
Time for the wannabee developers to do the community a favour and sell the club, Argyle must be the laughing stock of league 1.

I hope all these newbies can gel reasonably quickly with what is left from last season's squad and keep Argyle in League One.

I trust Adams to get the best of the lads (again) and go about his match day tactics as he sees fit (not to everyone's liking I know).

People say League One is not to dissimilar to League Two. We and the team will find out in a few weeks time and more.

Not too sure what to expect from this division, especially as Argyle have not set eyes on it since the last relegation. A new learning curve coming up.

Plenty of familiar sides up there from the past six years and one or two new sides not played for an age.

I hope not, it would be a f...ing crime if it did pan out like that. Still got memories of the time under Warnock, up and then back down again in the blink of an eye.

Let's hope he's not right. Must confess that the signings so far haven't really floated any boats in this direction with the possible exception of the centre back from Morecambe. Disappointing that Argyle would seem to be content to sign players who were by no means regulars at their respective clubs last season and whose age and records would suggest that their careers are unlikely to aspire to any much further heights, which surely should be the medium/longer term aim when making signings. Grant would appear to epitomise the pattern when a club of Argyle's size [very likely to be in the top 6 attendance wise next season] should really be seriously in the running for people like Wheeler and Waters rather than fringe players. I just hope that you and the rest of the "trust in DA" brigade are correct-he did indeed build a successful team with bargain bucket signings but time has moved on and eventually a glass ceiling will be reached whereby even a multiple promotion winning manager will struggle to compete. Good luck to all of the signings though, nothing against them personally and hopefully they will prove me wrong as indeed last summers signings did.

most of the signings so far look to be piss poor scraping the barrel signings
competitive league one budget my foot
hope this is just the budget thats dictating theses signings and DA hasn't lost the plot

Who at Argo is actually making these appalling signings? Adams certainly doesn't appear to be around. Not one comment from him on any of these new players. Even if DA is still manager when the season starts I really can't see him drilling this 'team' with all these new, apart from Edwards, bit part bench warmers, crocks and lower league rejects into anything like the team we had last season. Especially now there's no Carey to carry them. When you get promoted you're supposed to strengthen the squad not the opposite. One thing looks certain - we'll be far the lowest scorers in L1 next season.

Very long and grim season of struggle and atrocious 'performances' ahead.

I'm sure Adams had his offers in for those that he wanted....plus a back-up list before he took a well earned holiday. Remember he had three extra weeks this season to start preparing compared with last season.

Modern technology, etc ...would keep him in touch with Home Park and he would also know if new players became available.....it's difficult these days to be completely cut off from this mad world.

Shocking attempt at bullying another poster who holds an alternative view, it seem to be happening on a daily basis with this member, hopefully the moderators will take swift action to stamp out his bullyboy behaviour.

Adams has never managed in the English third division, if he thinks signing cheap crap will suffice he's going to be in for a suprise, the standard is far higher in my opinion than the dead league that is the Basement.
