| Another of his plan using other people moneyPlan to redevelop Pavilions and build boulevard by 2020 Businessman James Brent wants to have the Plymouth Pavilions site redeveloped in time for the 2020 Pilgrim Fathers celebrations. Mr Brent, Plymouth Argyle chairman and director of the holding company which owns the Pavilions, said he aims to demolish the ice rink and construct one side of the much-heralded "boulevard" between Millbay and the city centre before the Mayflower 400 showcase. We are conscious that we need to get things moving," he said. Mr Brent said the on-going regeneration of Millbay coupled with Plymouth City Council's recent move to purchase of properties in Bath Street (below) and Colin Campbell Court made redevelopment of the boulevard, with "homes" and commercial units, a viable option. Mr Brent said he would look to work on a masterplan for the area in conjunction with the council so the thoroughfare could be created "in one go". And he said it would mean removal of the ice rink, but stressed options for siting a new rink elsewhere are on the table. However, he was reluctant to reveal his hand, still smarting from when his plans to site a multiplex and rink beside Plymouth Argyle's stadium were kiboshed by British Land's subsequent £40million Bretonside leisure park scheme. "Having seen Higher Home Park plans come a cropper we will not reveal anything until we can say something definitely," he said. However, Mr Brent has already said he wants to see a new grandstand at Home Park in time for 2020, when Plymouth will be at the centre of global media attention. | He's still peddling that line that HHP was scuppered by British Land submitting plans to develop Bretonside.
Really, James? And there was me thinking HHP had planning permission granted over a year before British Land came along. If he'd done anything with Home Park in that year, British Land wouldn't have gone near Bretonside.
More obfuscation from our non-developing owner/Walter Mitty type. |

| They really are going to make a right mess of the whole Pavillions / Colin Campbell Court area by rushing through half baked plans on premise of being ready for 2020. BOC |

He's not going to develop anything whatsover in the City Centre nor is he going to develop any Grandstand at Home Park...... We have heard this multiple bullshit from him how many times now. Its pie in the sky just like Brent himself |

Meanwhile Jimmy and the board are sat on a prime piece of real estate that isn't going to go down in value. If nothing else it'll be interesting to see how his minders defend him when nothing is done. |

I'm not so sure. I think the tactic is to sit on the land and suck the council dry until they tell him to piss off with his pension pot nicely swelled. Torbay Council have done this whilst ours don't seem to have fully twigged yet. There is no doubt in my mind he is going to seperate the club from the ground and charge the club a huge wedge to play in its own ground. |

Agree with that Hugh, The rent will steadily rise, the auctions will be on the hour every hour and Argyle will smash the record for consecutive seasons of fourth tier football....the Brentmare goes on. |
