| It sounds as if all did not go smoothly.
Many hundreds stranded at the various P&R links because no buses turned up - despite everybody being advised to use the P&R buses!
Usual problems with catering so familiar to those of us who use the horseshoe: not enough of anything and horrendous queues for what there was.
Hopefully the problems didn't ruin the evening for too many people. |

| Anyone paying good money for that night out seriously needs to look at their social life. |

| Yes. I DID. And so did my wife who's present it was. What the hell right does he have to say what people do and don't do with their social life. Seems to me people have been poised on the internet waiting to hear of bad news and balls-ups. Pathetic. Not everyones idea of a social life is boozing it up with the 'bueys' so I couldn't give a rats arse if the queues for booze were long And by the way...all the catering was handled by the touring company with bars set up inside the ground. Bore off. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| Since it was me that started the thread I take exception to being described as one of the "people have been poised on the internet waiting to hear of bad news and balls-ups" because I was not.
What I was was idly perusing ny twitter feed where it was swamped with tweets from well known rabble rousers like Pippa Quelch, Gordon Sparks and others from Radio Devon. I don't follow the Herald but their tweets were also being retweeted onto my timeline. As were messages from Stagecoach saying that buses were on their way but stuck in traffic. Factor on to that friends of mine on FB were posting comments and photos from Home Park and I could hardly bloody miss the problems even if I wanted to.
It struck me as ironic that on the day that John Lloyd's survey, where catering problems have always featured prominently amongst the grumbles, that the same old problems cropped up yet again.
So I started this thread.
As for Rod... I would expect him to be very professional, have sensational musicians in his band and to put on a pretty decent show because, and let's be perfectly honest here, his voice could hardly go, could it? And he's been around long enough to know how to give a crowd what they want.
Because what he does have is a long history of gigging where he has learned his stagecraft (something sadly lacking in many new acts as they are progressed at breakneck speed through the Cowellisation process) and a bit of genuine stardust - he is a proper star and knows exactly how to act like it. I'd've loved to have been able to see him waaaaaaay back when he was in The Faces who were, and remain, one of the all-time great British rock 'n' roll bands.
Just out of curiosity how much was a ticket?

I know it's difficult for you to imagine, but there is always the possibility he wasn't referring to you... PS. You should know better... The mundane stuff goes in 'Half Time'. |

| A true soul singer in his day has done some great stuff, I met him in a pub near Windsor (no boys in sight thank fook) and he's a proper nice bloke, very approachable ina real bloke down the pub sort of a way. Glad you had a good evening SC. |

What tends to happen is that the venue charge a flat fee for the use of, in this case, Home Park. I've no idea what that fee would have been but it's highly unlikely that the club will see much of it [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Of dear, some people are always on a hair trigger, just waiting to explode. As it happens, my idea of a social life isn't a day out on the lash with the lads either. The catering actually isn't a thing I have moaned about at Argyle, because I've never used it., but assume it's done by outside contractors. Some people need to understand that ANY travelling event of a short duration, big crowds and temporary facilities is going to result in big queues and transport issues. I've done more of it than most in my time, on both sides of the coin. Night and day comes to mind, and all part of the "occasion". It's all a bit like setting off for a football match on the motorway network on a bank holiday expecting to get to the game with 5 minutes to spare. Don't these people ever go out ? Maybe it's a Plymouth thing. I never listened to Rod' stuff much, too pop and laddy for me, but you can't deny he's had a good old time doing it. I've quite liked his jackets though, of late. |

| Yes I am used to this forum now. Well enough to know that people frequently air their gripes, but when I do it it's 'being on a hair trigger'. I found your comment unnecessary and rather mean to be honest. Seems some people here say what they want and no one calls them on it. So I will. People don't seem to mind doing it to me. Same goes to those who use the term 'tent dwellers'. I don't go in there nor have ever used it but I hear constant moaning of those that do.
Needs to stop. |

So that's the answer is it? I thought that's what people complained about happening at the Farm? Sometimes the similarities are uncanny. It's a democratic forum right? Then I'll have my say too, and if that means challenging people, so be it. Or you could block me like the last one who didn't like me being challenging (Sir John Hawkins? ) He was not backwards about being insulting as he happily admitted, calling me one of 'those people' (whatever that means). Very democratic....like the left wing vitriol he spouted. Total cry baby. Screw him. Perhaps it's fair to say I've developed a tougher exterior over the last year, where once upon a time I'd have just left the forum. |

Perhaps it's fair to say I've developed a tougher exterior over the last year, where once upon a time I'd have just left the forum. Being able to speak as you find without fear of censorship is what makes ATD what it is. What would surprise some Pasoti regulars is that actually, ATD is closer to 'the norm' for proper football Forums than Pasoti will now ever be. There are loads of really great forums of other teams whose moderating and general laid back attitude would make our Mods seem like the Gestapo. They even allow proper swearing on a most of the best ones. Why? Because for the majority of people, that reflects real life. That aside, I think you're rather brave for actually admitting that you and your wife are Rod Stewart fans. |

Perhaps it's fair to say I've developed a tougher exterior over the last year, where once upon a time I'd have just left the forum. Bit of a rant, there's something for everyone in there... But let's just get one thing straight. On here, you won't get an organised campaign of multis harassing you. You won't get chucked off the site just because your opinions don't suit. You won't get victimised by the mods. It is a democratic forum, and I'm not sure on this thread at least that anyone has sought to deny you your say. Sounds a bit paranoid to me. As for the little tirade about Sir John Hawkins, maybe if you let things go a bit more you might be seen in a better light around here, just a suggestion. (Oh and also what was that complaint about 'mean' comments upthread? Aren't 'left wing [sic] vitriol', 'cry baby' and 'Screw him' also a bit mean?) |

| Yes probably they are a bit mean. But it was aimed at him who thought nothing of insulting me.
Czarcasm is right as are a lot of you about the forum being open and honest and I'm fine with that...as long as people (those in particular who don't like people arguing back) are fine with with being challenged....and SJH was clearly one of those..and this being a football forum...politics shouldn't even come into anything.
For the record, Czarcasm, I don't know who SJH is in real life of that's what you're asking. But I didn't appreciate him telling me to 'stick to the right side of the road' calling me one of 'those people' of which he was apparently sick of and giving no right of reply. Don't know who the hell he thinks he is but I don't find him important anyway...I just don't like someone judging me who doesn't know me.

That aside, I think you're rather brave for actually admitting that you and your wife are Rod Stewart fans. To be honest, we're not what you'd call 'fans'. We don't have his albums or anything and we'd rather go to see AC/DC given the choice but...he was here...we live here..sod it let's go. Being honest, the show was rather good....people who DIDN'T go have no right really to say if it was any good or not. Was nice to see Home Park hosting such an event, showing that we CAN get it right if we try. |
