| I can't see Roy being able to get the best out of the attacking options we have and/or shore up a defence that looks vulnerable. He's simply too conservative.
Added to the fact that we don't play the tournament then group stages for me.
2 draws and a defeat. |

| QF. Think we'll escape the group and the round of 16 then looks winnable. Can't see us going further with Gary Cahill and Jordan Henderson as 1st choice players. |

| Semis as its just a guess, I've long been of the opinion Roy should have gone ages ago, as Inno says too conservative, get some young blood in. We should have the firepower to do well but have to play players in their natural positions, Roy should be called Roy of the Roonies as he bases his whole squad around that one player, everybody else has to fit in, too predictable. |

| Paul Doyle in the Guardian nails it today about Sir Roy. - Quote :
- But let’s not call including Rooney an easy option. After all, countless Russian, Slovakian and Welsh folk have spent months trying in vain to figure out how to disrupt the fastest, slickest and boldest forwards that England have had in a generation. Only Mr Roy has found a way. Crowbar a member of a bygone generation into the starting lineup and, hey presto, Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy and Dele Alli are neutralised! That’s no small feat, and it has taken Mr Roy four years to get to this point.
It is indeed remarkable that a supposedly conservative and predictable manager has contrived to reach the eve of his third major tournament without anyone having any clear idea of how his team is going to play. In these times when talk of philosophies and projects are all the rage, it’s somehow heartening to know that some managers still convey the impression that they’re totally and utterly winging it (even when their teams have no real width). Yes, there’ll always be an England.

| Sorry Dick, but that's just word play with a bit of Basil Brush thrown in. The lilt is more important than the content, all a bit Xthrobber in my opinion, and so like all mainstream media. I can't bear to read them anymore. It's like the're trying to give you a blow job. A little bit of taking the piss, yes, that's ok, but Hattersley ( get it ) isn't winging it, he's just a straight forward England manager that has seen fit to try and blood a new generation from a premiership that is filled with the world's mercenaries. Width is not important, winning is. That's all international football is about. What a tragedy that the England golden generation didn't win something, under the smooth talking, coiffured millionaires, but they're all gone now, with only Rooney having played with them. I have no idea how England will do, and don't really care a jot. But I do hope Roy gets an ordinary chap's old fashioned success. |

Rather tongue in cheek I would agree but Roy does have the knack of suppressing any creativity when the world can see our best chance of doing anything is to attack. |

I blame Alf Ramsey. He started it with 442. Steady as she goes. |

| We'll do well to reach the last 8, given that we can't defend.
If we play Rooney in midfield we probably won't score any. He goes sideways and backwards more than Ray Wilkins. |

| Can't see us going out in the group stage so I'll take a punt on the second round. |

| Already the negativity has started. Saturday is not a must win but we must not lose.
Given that we have a shite defence and potentially a threatening attack then going in with that attitude is just to Roy and so England.
Play to your strengths and go out for a win. Only 4 teams leave the competition in the first stage FFS. |

| Defence is poor at best just a question of outscoring the opposition. To me its clear though that Hodgson doesn't have a scooby as to his best team |
