| Lets hope the players get offered contracts before they go off on their well deserved holidays.
Hopefully Adams has some targets lined up regardless of what division we are in and what budget we have.
Will the AFT take a more critical stance towards the club or will they find another excuse not to rock the boat?
Will Brent buy the ground? (and where did he find the money)

| First off, they should all be sat down and be made to watch that fuckin debacle of a performance.
Shortly after, Mellor needs to be shown the door. |

| The big question is whether Adams wants another season managing in his words "a threadbare squad". He's established a reputation down south now and could quite easily find a job at league one level.
If Adams goes combined with Brent buying the ground then it will be a feisty summer. |

| I am guessing Adams will stay. Mellor is definitely a weak link, and should go. Anyone wanting to give Nelson big money is mad. Is issuing a retained list the same thing as actually paying people over the Summer break ? Could Brent opt for some internships ? |

| If I were Derek I would start making noises to search out a club with a proper owner, who is actually serious about promotion. Because sure as hell the ticking over, footballing austerity culture will continue at HP under the reluctant one. |

| Suspect that is exactly what Adams is doing today. The threadbare jibe was clearly deliberate |

| I think Adams will give it another year, the threadbare comment was most certainly aimed at the owner, unfortunately it won't make the slightest bit of difference to the austerity budget that he will be given.
I would think he would want to keep the majority of the players, who were, after all, good enough to be in the top 3 for most of the season. There will be a few outs (Mellor first) and not many ins until loans can be agreed.
I'm pretty sure Brent will take up his option of buying the ground which will ensure that this club will never have a ground capable of staging Championship football, let alone Premier League, in the future.
Lots to look forward to then. |

| Get Akinfenwa signed up on a 1 year contract. He'd do a job for us and he's free. |

he could do a job i see him as someone who cold change a gamwe when brought on which we seriously lack in our squad. The only draw back would be the beards slating him every chance they got due to how easy he made our defence look shit when he came on yesterday.- = We MAY hear today ifnot tomorrow the retain/released list from the club. I trust Mellor has already said goodbye. |

| Mellor has had his good games but is a defensive liability. He makes bad decisions, for instance yesterday trying to head the ball when it was a foot of the ground for their goal. His distribution is terrible, his footwork poor and he looks like Bambi on ice at times.
He'll do a job for somebody but he's certainly a weak link in our back 4.
It is harsh to single out a player, and the team has to take collective responsibility for their abject showing. But there will always be individual mistakes and Mellor seems to make more of them than any other defender. |

| I would put Sawyer on the same list as Mellor. I think the fullbacks are the weak point, although none of the players done themselves any favours after that game. |

| sawyer always had a weakness or two, even when he was younger. Very easy to turn if he couldn't hand you off rugby style. But beggars can't choose. |

| Only one question matters: "how are we going to be promoted next season?" It doesn't good and there's a clear likelihood of some serious upheaval in the offing.
We know for sure that we have Sawyer and Carey next season and that McCormick wants to stay but after that... Who knows?
The various comments emerging about "threadbare squad" and Reuben's "squad will break up" (another interview with a strong "not my fault, guv" subtext) suggest that we're in for an interesting summer as everybody is eyeing up options elsewhere.
It could be that even Adams will be gone - that "threadbare" comment is very telling as is the whole gist of the "look at how good a job I have done" interview - so while his future remains uncertain none of the out-of-contract players will be signed up...
Instead of retaining the best of a squad that should have been promoted automatically and building on it to improve and do better next time it looks like we have to start pretty much afresh.
It's a mess with potentially cataclysmic consequences. |
