I'm a bit young to remember watching him in his pomp in the 70s but clips I've seen of him seem to show a languid, natural style that seemed to be quite common with the best players of that period such as Marsh, Worthington etc, what do you old duffers reckon?

I was a little boy watching the '74 World Cup when Cruyff did that turn. Nobody had ever seen anybody do anything like it before to the extent they didn't even begin to understand how he had done it.

Before him football in Holland wasn't even professional and that Ajax team in the early 70s was right up there with the best club sides ever in no large part because he made it so.

In any list of the Greatest Ever Players his name will always be there and that #14 shirt number will always be primarily associated with him.

I remember trying to copy that move with my mates in the days after that game.
