| Plymouth Argyle v Oxford UnitedMan in the middle JAMES ADCOCK Games 23 YELLOWS 59 REDS 1
Assisted by Andrew Turner and Simon Knapp Fourth Official Andrew Quin Oxford News Oxford head Coach looks ahead to Argyle game Only goal difference divides the second and third placed teams in the division and the U’s’ Head Coach Michael Appleton told Yellow Player HD earlier today that he expects the toughest test of the season at Home Park. “I think so far” he said. ”This was always going to be a tough game. It was very close at our place earlier in the season, although I thought we played very well that night and were deserved winners, but Plymouth have had a fantastic season. If anything it is a little bit tougher for us on Saturday because they have had a little bit of a wobble, which every team is going to have. “I’m sure people looked at us after back to back defeats and wondered if we were going to have a dodgy patch now, but we have responded really well to that. Plymouth will be looking to respond well on Saturday too” “It’s not one game that decides what happens for the rest of the season though. I genuinely thought we would be going into this game three points behind, but with the opportunity to go above them on goal difference if we won. Seeing their result on Tuesday was a bonus, but we just had to make sure we took care of our own result that night.” Due to high demand an additional coach has been provided for Saturday's trip to Plymouth 700 sold hoping to take 1,000 Having overtaken Plymouth on Tuesday night the U’s are looking for a fourth straight win, and a seventh successive away victory. However, the always pragmatic Appleton refuses to get too far ahead. “We have spoken about the wins and the points that we need” he said. “We know our targets and that won’t change; we back ourselves to reach those targets. There are still 36 points to play for and there are certainly teams in this league capable of winning at least ten out of twelve games. Let’s hope that we are one of those clubs.” Skipper Jake Wright is fully fit and returns to the squad while midfielder John Lundstram is expected to train tomorrow and could come into contention. With Ryan Taylor getting ever closer to full fitness the U’s may soon have a full squad to choose from as they enter the crucial part of the season. “We’re not far off that” Michael said. “I would rather have those headaches in terms of selection than the other week when we only had 13 players available!” One man missing will be winger Zeli Ismail whose loan from Wolves ended on Tuesday night. “Zeli was looking for game time and we couldn’t guarantee that” Michael said. “He has been a little unfortunate because our wide players have been playing very well. He did great and we have a very strong relationship with Wolves so the situation might change before the 24th when the window closes, but as it stands he has gone back to Wolves.” Due to high demand an additional coach has been provided for Saturday's trip to Plymouth, 700 tickets are sold for this game hoping to take 1,000 Argyle NewsA Rallying CallThis Saturday is the biggest day at Home Park so far this season. Oxford are in second in the league, ahead of the Pilgrims on goal difference only. Both teams have 64 points, and are gunning for promotion. Argyle have won the last two games at Home Park - against Mansfield and Notts County - and with YOUR backing we can make it three. We have lost only eight games in the league this season, the latest coming at Barnet in midweek. But - get this for a stat - on the other seven occasions, we have won the next game SIX times, drawing the other. Derek Adams' side know how to bounce back. "It is not just another game," said Derek. "It is two teams that are in the automatic promotion places and vying to stay in that automatic position, it is a game that we want to win." "It is important that you pick up points at home and that is no different this Saturday." Don't miss this crucial game in Argyle's season - and play your part in roaring the boys onto the most vital three points of the season. |

| Super Saturday? Super for who? The big away following certain of 3 easy points thats who. This could well be the most one sided match in the FL. Oxford are classes above Argo - we may as well be playing Barcelona. Glad I'm not going.

| I have a bad feeling about this one. Oxford are scoring for fun, having strengthened in the January window. As we all know, Tory Boy wouldn't put his hand in his pocket, and that decision is coming home to roost at the moment - not that he cares of course, it's only us plebs after all, and we'll soon get over it. That SNP chap is doing a fine job keeping them all happy. Still think we'll finish top three though, win, lose or draw on Saturday. I came over all Aviva then. |

| My first game since the entertaining Millwall encounter.
I will take a 1-1 draw and hope Accy lose at AFC.
I do not think Argyle will get thrashed as some on here have predicted, if they were to lose however, 1-0 would be about right.

| Argyle update
Carl McHugh and Tyler Harvey will be assessed before Saturday, whilst Kelvin Mellor is expected to be ready for the game.
"We are still assessing Carl," said Derek. "He has not trained this week, but we are still assessing.
"Tyler will train. He has trained the last couple of days so we will just assess him as well.
"Kelvin was a wee bit stiff [after Tuesday], but he should be fine for Saturday.
PAFC Community Trust at the oxford game
This Saturday’s game at Home Park will provide another busy day for Argyle Community Trust staff, as our Match-Day Magic promotion is again fully booked.
Youth Football Clubs from North Devon and North Cornwall will be in attendance, as we welcome 150 children, parents and club officials from the Bideford Blues and Morwenstow.
The day will start with a welcome, a brief talk on the history of the club and a Stadium tour. This is followed by a coaching session for the children in the adjacent Life Centre and then a buffet for everyone at the same venue.
Finally, the groups are escorted to our award-winning Family Stand, where there are activities for the youngsters to enjoy prior to the game and also at half time.
Hopefully, they will have witnessed another three points for the lads in Green and will become regular supporters in years to come. |

| Down to the bare bones with our non league sized squad, yet no sign of Jimmy letting Adams sign the emergency loans we desperately need? |

| Whatever the outcome tomorrow we shouldn't get too carried away.
I remember years ago, Shilton had just replaced Kemp as manager, when Oxford came to Home Park with only a bare few games left. We were both in danger of going down so a win was essential; it was the very definition of a six-pointer writ large. IIRC we won the game 3-1 and celebrated like the job was done. It wasn't. Blackburn (Speedie's hat-trick) won the last game at Home Park 3-1, Oxford got a result somewhere and we went down and they stayed up.
A similar example was that Wigan away game when Dave Smith was manager. The 3-0 defeat looked like we were done for but we weren't; we went up and they did not.
BTW the looming Accrington game reminds me of that Wigan encounter... |

| How can we win when?
PLYMOUTH Argyle's Ryan Brunt is a staggering 6/1 and joint-second favourite to score the first goal against Oxford United on Saturday despite suffering a suspected cruciate ligament. |
