| Not my cup of tea but fair play to them.
What it does show is how difficult the whole podcast/weekly review show thing is to pull off professionally and in an engaging manner. I listen to The Football Ramble and The Guardian Football podcasts whilst running and they're great. I think many of these amateurs reckon it is easier than it turns out to be.
Like most things in life, those that are the best make it look like anyone could do it, Wogan a case in point. |

| I watched the first 5 minutes, the bloke in the hat seemed quite comfortable asking questions, but the other two were awful. The bloke with the glasses was clearly nervous, and I apologise if he has parkinsons or some similar condition, but when he spoke he shook his head (in a fashion of saying no) which was quite distracting. The bloke in the jumper looked like he wanted to kill the bloke with glasses and spoke like he'd been on the lash all day. Then they swapped camera position (for no apparent reason) but the speakers still spoke to the original camera? Some bits were ok/ good but room for improvement. |

I wonder how wise it is to have a guy who is well known for having a banning order at home park commenting on argyle |

| I actually think they might have something. The boy Dan Stone is quite good, despite me expecting him to be a total bellend, he comes across as very likeable despite being a complete aviva |

| I'm sure there's a niche market for the lads, maybe when I'm back in exile I'll look in. Young Dan needs to keep a check on pieface, the lad likes the sound of his own voice just a little bit too much.
I don't think "the grumpy old gits" market is the demographic they're aiming at though. |

I wonder how wise it is to have a guy who is well known for having a banning order at home park commenting on argyle I assume you mean Pieface. You make it sound as though he has been arrested, charged, convicted and sentenced by a proper judicial process. So far as i know no such thing has happened. Argyle's kanagaroo court banned him, that much is true, but is that what is commonly understood by a "banning order" which would probably entail his attendance at a police station somewhere during match times and so on? |

I don't think "the grumpy old gits" market is the demographic they're aiming at though. Yeah, this. It's actually pretty good, but clearly aimed at a younger audience. They've avoided the usual downfalls of these things by finding somewhere pleasant and well-lit to record, getting the sound right, and adding some decent graphics. With the technology and software about these days, muddy sound in a dimly lit bedroom is pretty much unforgivable. The guy with the beard (Dan?) is good - affable, chatty, and with that slight wideboy demeanour that The Young People (as my wife calls them) seem to like. The guests are not as good. Not awful, just not as good. That's the downfall of these fan productions - finding one or two people at ease in front of the camera is a result, let alone five or six. Things actually improve when Mr Face turns up. As much as I think he's a bit of a chief (sorry - 'passionate') when he's at the ground, he's fine in front of camera, and has more than enough patter to keep things rolling along. They might be better served having Dan and Pieface as hosts and the guests come in one at a time for 5-10 mins. That would mean that they could brief them ahead of time about what they would be talking about, and give the guests a chance to turn up with an idea of what they want to say. Christ knows why I'm posting all this here though - I'd be surprised if they were ATD readers. I'm more on the side of the people getting on and doing stuff, as long as they realise that, if you put something out there, you're going to be judged on it. It's clearly more about the 'everyday supporter' stuff, rather than the goings on in the boardroom. What will make it watchable over a longer period will be whether they at least touch on some of the more difficult issues, and whether they can attract more informed guests - ex-players, journos, people from the club etc. Otherwise it's like watching mates hanging out and talking about the footy. All well and good, but I imagine most of us have our own mates to do that with. |
