Very, very good player, and very obviously so from early on. I wonder if Ridsdale has an interest in this one given how he was sold for a song to his old club with plenty of trusted confidences.
Newell likened Mason to Owen Pickard. Another headless chicken moment.
I think the corruption over the last 6 or 7 years has done serious damage to the image of a once admirable club. Adams has one hell of a job on his hands to turn it around.

£5m for a forward who's only managed doubled figures once in his career is crazy money. He is a tidy player at 2nd tier level, but he didn't get a sniff when Cardiff had their year in the Prem.

Some clubs are just mental full stop. Southampton paying Paul Wotton 10k a week as a midfielder and handing him the no. 10 shirt being a fine case. Obviously they've sorted themselves out a bit now.

But he played quitea bit for them in his time there to be fair. Not worth £10,000 a week though never has been in truth

Wotton was signed by Jan Poortvliet (who?)and made 30 starts in two and a half years which isn't really 'quite a bit'.

The club was relegated during his first season there so the signs point to him being out of his depth.

Which is what most observers would have expected.

He won a trophy though which is more than joe mason Wink plus he made overall 67 appearances in 2 seasons he played for them as the last year of his 3 year deal he was out on loan to oxford and yeovil.

30 league starts from July '08 until Jan '11 with one month loaned out to Oxford.

Ten grand a week didn't get you much it in those days.

Should being a substitute count?

I'd want a bit more for my £10,000 a week than to sit on the bench.

Sturrock's son started 9 league matches and was sub for 54.

He no more played 63 games than Newell did.

Blairs biggest skill was holding the ball by the corner flag for ten minutes to protect our 1 0 lead, he was good at that.

Still played though whether it was starting or came on as a late sub. How many caps do some England players like Adam lallana clock up from the bench compared to how many he gets from starting.

Not unlike clocking in at work and then going home.

Technically you were there but then again?

Think Mason could have been a great asset for us. Struck by how good his feet were, the few times I saw him play.

Wotton was a limited player, even when with us the first time. 100%er though. Soton mental to pay him that much money

I just love watching Palace when Bolasie is ripping some Prem defence a new'un, Mason and Noone are faves as well, three players who might go for the thick end of £20 million that you got about four bob for, it dulls the pain of the Mackie deal.

Snigger.

The sad thing is you probably enjoy it for that reason alone rather than the fact he's a good footballer. Bitter and obsessed,

At least we have had that standard of player for a good few years and enjoyed watching them in the Championship. It's a bit like being a young good looking fella who pulled the best looking birds. Even when you're old, fat and washed up, you can still look back with fondness on the times you had. Better to have loved and lost, eh Tis? Very Happy

Any decent players you've ever had have never contributed to getting your club anywhere, have they?

Dwell on that one. king

Did you enjoy the way those carp players mugged you, £10k a week for Taribo, snigger, and the way you all got mugged by Staples, Ridsdale et al so that you went bust and even ripped off the St.John Ambulance finishing one place above relegation to the Conference two seasons on the bounce.

No neck mugs the lot of you, delusional muppets.
