| DEANE Smalley has joined Newport County on loan. The forward, who has recently returned following a long injury lay-off, is moving to Rodney Parade until the end of the season.
Smalley was injured in training in November 2014, having made 18 appearances for Argyle to that point, including five starts. The injury to his knee kept him out of football for almost exactly a year. Having built up his fitness via development football, Deane came on as a late substitute at Hartlepool on December 19 this season as the Pilgrims won 2-1 at Victoria Park.
However, despite being a substitute in each game since, he has not being able to fight his way into a side that is top of the division and contains the likes of Reuben Reid, Ryan Brunt, Jake Jervis, Craig Tanner, Graham Carey and Gregg Wylde.
Argyle have already faced Newport twice this season. The Exiles are now managed by former Argyle striker Warren Feeney, since ex-Pilgrims boss John Sheridan moved back to Oldham; a club, by quirk of coincidence, that Sheridan was at when he gave Smalley his league debut in 2007.

| probably for the best, he was never going to get a look in with Tanner, Jervis, Carey and Wylde in the squad whether he was fit or not. all the best Deane im sure you will get games at newport.
Well that's 3 out and only 1 in (not counting tanner and oscar or even hiram if he comes back as they were already here) our squad grows smaller by the week |

| We can only assume wages are being freed up for the imminent arrival of new players. |

| The Squad is starting to look threadbare with the likes of Boateng, Smalley, Cox and rodders gone. This looks like a real all out assault on promotion. |

Is this the cost of keeping our scorers? Get rid of everybody else apart from a starting 11 and six subs. Feck me I was moaning about a threadbare squad when we had more players than this. |

| Well we've signed a right sided defender that Hibernian were sorry to lose (especially seeing as everyone has been moaning all season that Mellor has no competition), we have a contract offer on the table for Alan Smith and there is no doubt more negotiations going on behind the scenes.
DA clearly didn't rate Cox, Smalley isn't going to get a game here either on the wings or up front, not bad decisions to let another club who wants them pay their wages for a few months - and we can get in players DA WILL use. |

| Can't argue with any of that ejer, but it makes you ask questions of the budget or lack of it again, or it should do, also if we go up come May we will start he season with how many players on our books? I am still of the belief that if we get out of this league it will be in spite of Brent not because of him, thank god for DA. |

There was sufficient money to offer him though. He came down for a look, considered it, and seems to have been persuaded he has a future where he is settled in Nottingham. Other centre midfielders will be available. (Plus we still have this little iron in the fire... [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] ) |

(Plus we still have this little iron in the fire... I dont think anyone has over looked Boateng's potential return hope he does come back sooner rather than later however we still need one perhaps two more to come in aswell to give the squad enough depth and strength going forward and securing the championship and promotion. |

He's 35 and being offered a move to the arse end of the country. The move probably sounded tempting with a player/coach role next season, then he probably realised after his new manager wanted to keep him that he'll walk into a coaching role somewhere anyway (Notts County, Forest, Derby, Burton, Chesterfield, Mansfield, Northampton etc.) with a lot less upheaval. Who knows, but it isn't the end of the world. |

Who knows, but it isn't the end of the world. yes youre right its not the end of the world i didnt really see the point in him coming from the off. however he did come here to see what he could see obviously saw that mchugh, threlkeld and simpson were far better than he is now and if boateng is coming back he wasn't going to get much football if any here either hence making any move here pointless. He wants to play in for another year he wasnt going to do that here.

| Bollocks, player looking at his last year or two it's all about the money, money, money. We didn't offer enough or he didn't fancy a contract until the end of the season. |
