Northampton complete deal for Shrewsbury Town striker James Collins
Sky Bet League Two club Northampton Town have completed the signing of Shrewsbury Town striker James Collins on a loan deal until the end of the season, the club’s official website has confirmed.
Collins joins the second placed Cobblers and will provide an added goal threat as the club continue their push for promotion this season.
Collins, previously of Swindon and Hibernian before joining Shrewsbury for his second spell in 2014, will be out to prove to the Shrews what they are missing out on.
He netted 17 times in Shrewsbury’s promotion winning campaign last season, and has already found the net 7 times this season.
Northampton manager Chris Wilder said: “We are delighted to bring in a player of this quality and it is important that we strengthen the squad when we are doing well”.
“He fits into our system and the way we want to play, we have known about him and followed his career for a long time and it is pleasing we have been able to add a player of this quality so early in the January transfer window.”
Northampton take on MK Dons in the FA Cup at Sixfields this weekend.
