| [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Interesting. Doesn't actually say that the "assets" won't be sold off and the implication seems to be that Derek Adams alone will be responsible for any decisions taken in the window. We shall see. |

| Why doesn't Brent actually provide the media with a decent photograph rather than that monstrosity that gets churned out every time. Its frightening. |

| Devastating as it was, it was easier to come to terms with losing our top players in the January window when we were 4th in the CCChampionship. There were plenty of big fish that we couldn't compete financially with to keep our players.
If the same happens next month when we are in a similar position - but in fooking division 4, that will be solely down to Brent. He needs to stand up and be counted and make sure we don't jeopardise getting out of this dogshit division by caving in to any would-be suitors for our best players. |

| So, basically if the likes of Carey get sold, it's all Adams' fault. I'm afraid that is not the most promising statement Brent has ever made. As for saying the club should be happy it's players are in demand, that just says absolutely nothing. As it happens, I am a big fan, as well, of small squads and paying that bit extra for quality, and taking the risk of injuries. But to listen to reluctant Brent casting his oh so expert football eye over matters like small squads is irritating to say the least. And of course, he's slipped in the old Argyle favourite by implying if clubs come in for your best players, there's nothing you can do. Well, that's mighty convenient. Of course there's something you can do at this stage of the proceedings. It's hardly going to be Manchester making a bid. It so happens of course that his whole economic employment theory in any case would be to have bare bones skeleton staffing levels, but I doubt that means he follows that principle purely to allow him him to pay top dollar for those he does employ.
I found that statement rather creepy, but then I really don't trust the man, seeing how he has dealt with Plymouth and Torbay Councils. An absolute disgrace of a landbanker. |

| I couldn't agree more. That's exactly how it reads, although it's not actually saying don't expect to be promoted.
Selling would be a big mistake by Brent, but then, he's not the brightest, or even the most desirous, that much is obvious. Just a numbers man, where the only numbers that count are personal asset appreciation over time. Nothing else. In football terms, his ludicrously favoured start in life, with no sign of merit whatsoever, would compare to the physically uncoordinated son of an England international who was pressed on several pro football clubs only to fail by the time he was 18.
If a sale, of say, Carey, were to happen in January, I don't think Brent's tenure could ever recover from that, even with the obvious and guaranteed support of Nool and about 3 other online fans who have their slippers under the grandstand. He would be a dead man walking like Dan. Not that the thouhts of this latest bunch of fans who swopped their fleece for a suit jacket mean diddly any more than any one else. I have never noticed Pasoti having any sway whatsoever in how Plymouthians feel about their football club. General fan feeling will be what it is, as it has always been. A sale of one of the best players at this juncture would be a bit rich, even for Argyle. This is the 4th division, after all, it's not a Mariner situation where he played for us for 3 years, and it's not a championship club with talented players making a b-line for the Premier league. Cutting and running at this point would not be received well, and would certainly see the backs of another few hundred of the newly acquired generation under Sturrock 1 and Holloway. And so it continues.

Fat chance of that Angers. The Nools who have swapped their fleece for a suit jacket will still queue to be fed, and other fans will just quietly not bother and look for other ways to spend their day. Even Michael Foot resigning had zero effect on the club and it's owners, with little to no effect on it's fans, it has to be said. We just don't do sedition down here. |

| "All down to Adams".
What complete and utter nonsense! Is there anybody who even begins to believe such crap?
All Adams can do is deploy the resources (= £££s) he is allocated as best he can. Unless a CCC club comes in for a player (if we're completely gazumped there's little to be done - that much is true) then none of them are likely to "do a Hourihane" and leave a club on the cusp of glory (that's Argyle by the way) for one on the cusp of relegation (such as Barnsley). Just not going to happen unless the "Barnsley" forks out seriously unaffordable dosh.
Which is where Brent comes in. If "a Barnsley" comes sniffing then it is time to sell the club and its future prospects to the player concerned, match (at least) their offer and slap a contract worth signing on the table to back it up.
And ultimately that is all down to Brent. |

| Or do we hope that by selling a few players the club can repay some of Brent's loans and he might lower the asking price for the club. |

| I doubt it Frank, repaying his debts quicker just increases his margin. Shareholder value. |

| Absolutely no-one should be suprised by this. Brent was always looking to sell all our best players this January. Brent will leave Adams to desparately scratch around looking for ultra cheap and inferior loans. We'll be nicely lower mid-table by the end March.
Season is well and truly over, unless we're involved in a relegation scrap. |

"If we're there or thereabouts come January, we should just go for it"

Even when Reid is sold (or even loaned) to Pompey there'll be no outcry. The reaction to January will will fall into two camps: those who were half expecting this will just laugh and say 'same old Argo' and not bother going again this season - and the brentophiles who will say "can't compete with bigger clubs" and continue going and blindly supporting regardless how far we plummet down the division. But brent will get away with it. |
