| There has been much talk of late regarding the size of the match attendance at Argyle for this current season, 2015 - 16.
It has been said over the road there that perhaps it should be bigger, with some wild crowd predictions stated.
Anyway, I was looking back to the 2001-02 season (the last time we were top of this league) to compare crowds sizes with this season and it makes interesting reading.
Back in 2001 - 02 the lowest crowd was a figure of 3,850 Vs Swansea City on 06/09/01 and the highest was a figure of 18,517 Vs Cheltemham Town on 20/04/02.
The early season crowd figures were between 3,850 to 6,572, only increasing (with some dips) after the Christmas break, something another poster has pointed out.
Full Run Down Of Attendance Figures From Argyle's Home Fixtures For The 2001- 2002 Season.
11/08/01 Shrewsbury Town - 5,087 25/08/01 Rochdale - 4,198 11/09/01 Swansea City - 3,850 22/09/01Macclesfeild Town - 4,227 29/09/01 Luton Town - 5,782 13/10/01 Halifax Town - 5,065 23/10/01 Lincoln City - 6,572 03/11/01 Hartlepool United - 5,723 24/11/01 Carlisle United - 3,716 15/12/01 Darlington - 5,041 26/12/01 Torquay United - 12,677 29/12/01 Rushdon and Diamonds - 9,503 12/01/02 Hull City - 9,134 22/01/02 Scunthorpe United - 5,804 26/01/02 Oxford United - 8,239 09/02/02 Mansfield Town - 14,716 23/02/02 Kidderminster Harriers - 8,758 26/02/02 Exeter City - 16,369 05/03/02 York City - 10,801 16/03/02 Leyton Orient - 9,438 30/03/02 Bristol Rovers - 15,732 06/04/02 Southend United - 10,021 20/04/02 Cheltenham Town - 18,517

| Your dates aren't quite correct.
Our lowest crowd that season was on September 11th, the day of the tragedy, I'm certain. |

| The Swansea game was definitely 9/11/01 and we had lost our first 2 home games as well. That would probably have been the lowest gate irrespective of the terrible events that day.
Interesting to see that holiday time aside, crowds didn't grow until February time |

| The early season game attendances were stifled by the ground redevelopment. The Lincoln game was pretty much full house with exception of Bobby's Garden area used for away fans. |

| As green_genie states, only the Mayflower was open until boxing day of the 2001-02 season so not a true comparison.
But generally gates are lowish before christmas, rise during christmas/ NY (partly due to exiles) and start to gradually increase. Post easter (if we're still top) we'll see lots of capacity crowds. |

| I found the whole thing of being crammed into the Mayflower a very weird experience, and not to my liking. Exciting to see the new structures going up every week, but something was lost. I remember the Hartlepool game in particular with the result ground out, when it was clear the team were going up. |

| I've seen a lot of posts elsewhere bemoaning current attendances.
As a non-attender for quite a number of years aside from the occasional, why should I drop my current lifestyle because Argyle suddenly find themselves on a roll? Moreso when I don't believe the owner to have a care in the world which division we play in?
6k+ today. Damn good for an FA cup tie which many no longer (if ever considering generation) see as an important fixture when compared to the league. |
