| The cupboard is bare for an England manager. The number of England-qualified players in the Prem is so low that anyone who gets a game for one of the top-half sides is automatically considered for selection. Sad but true...

| I guess we'll have to wait a bit before the London Olympic sport legacy starts kicking in |

This was the driving reason given by the PL teams as was at the time to justify their en masse resignation from the football league. "Our players play too many games. We need a smaller league so that they are forced to play less often meaning they'll suffer from fewer injuries and so be fresher at the end of the season for the Summer tournaments like the World Cup and the Euro Championships." Amazingly people seemed to believe them at the time and haven't held them to account since. Since then we have the Champions League, which is not a League and is not exclusively for Champions, and the Europa League which between them have added dozens of extra fixtures to the timetable for the top clubs and, along with the interminable 10 day gap between replays seemingly at the behest of the OB, robbed us in the lower leagues of the novelty drama of repeated replays and games played at a neutral venue. "It'll help keep matchday admission prices down once we make the shift to all-seater stadia too!" they said. Another thing they are not held to account for. The PL and all of the thinking behind it is a cancer destroying our game. And, as Germany shows us, there is no need for things to be as they are. None whatsoever. |

I have no idea if the bloke is any good or not, but are 4 games all it takes for someone to get a call up? He didn't start playing when he joined Spurs, he was a vital part of the MK Dongs team that got promoted and has played more like a hundred games including every England level up to U21. A very good young player, he is getting a chance because we have already qualified, far more gifted than Jordan Henderson, I doubt he will let us down. |

It's an ideal situation for him and England. He's obviously got great potential, so bring him in to the set-up so he can get a feel for things and Woy & Co can have a good look at him. |

Being a vital part of a team that got promoted from League 1 is now the best we can do? What next, call-ups for Luke Freeman and Jay-Emmanuel Thomas? |
