BBC boycotts Glasgow Rangers matches after football club bans its reporter and Times columnist over negative stories


The BBC has announced a boycott of Rangers matches and press conferences after one of its reporters was told to stay away from Ibrox.

In the latest example of a football club imposing petty bans on the media, the Scottish Championship outfit banned Chris McLaughlin along with Times and former Herald columnist Graham Spiers last week.

McLaughlin was been barred for leading his match reports of Rangers' 6-2 Challenge Cup win over Hibernian with mentions of arrests for sectarian singing. Spiers' access has been blocked for what the club perceive to be negative reporting

You can bet Rangers wouldn't have principles if Sky or BT came calling with a big fat cheque....having said something similar.

wish i could boycott the bbc but you end up in jail if you dont pay its tv licence/poll tax

The BBC is one of the foundations stones of this country.....everything else pales into insignificance comparing.......and also free when your over 75 yrs old....... Very Happy
