Mountain made out of a molehill. If the bloke made no compliant of the incident there should have taken that into account. his career will be affected by the bbc sacking clarkson who will be snapped up by sky/itv/channel 4 make more money and carry on. ?? Even after being attacked the bloke was worried about getting the sack. If the BBC had done nothing you'd be going on about what gutless hypocrites they are. Not to mention Clarkson has previous episodes where he was lucky not to be punished further. Top Gear is awful these days, it needs a revamp |

Top Gear has been woeful for a number of years as they have run out of ideas and can only resort to playing caricatures of themselves. The recent "adventure" when Hammond was stuck up a mountain in Canada and the other two were "rushing" to save him was awful - it wasn't entertaining, funny or believable. And in the real world, if anyone else punched a colleague at work (after verbally and racially abusing him for 30 minutes), we would be sacked immediately. |

| Definitely the right decision. It's hard to imagine how he could have been spared, given the long list of idiotic racist comments, and now some incredibly unpleasant bullying. Paul Staines (aka Guido Fawkes, the person who started the decision to reinstate Clarkson) is convinced it's all a liberal conspiracy to rid the world of anyone who isn't left-wing. It made him sound like a Conservapedia article.
I quite liked Top Gear - at its best it was so funny it made me cry. On a Sunday night all I want is to watch someone try to turn a Ford Escort into a limousine, or whatever it may be. Top Gear's fanbase is much wider than some of Clarkson's supporters think - not everyone, or even the majority, of its viewers are right-wing middle-aged blokes who don't like cyclists or speed limits. I think most are people who just want something brainless and funny to entertain them for an hour. |

Well done - that's possibly the biggest load of wank I have ever read. You're blaming the victim? Is that right? People you like can do what they want, can they? On what grounds is it permissible to punch anybody? Should he get away with it because some people think he is funny? Or because he's a popular TV personality? Or because he is rich? Or because he is mates with the PM? What is the cut-off point here? Is Hammond, say, (less funny, rich, popular and friendly with the PM) allowed to punch people too? If so which ones? How much less popular, funny, rich etc do they have to be to earn the right to be punched with impunity? What about, say, Keith Chegwin? Who can he thump if he feels like it? Where would Sparksy fit in? Or alternatively if only Clarkson is allowed to get off scot free with verbal intimidation and punching somebody why him and why only him and which other crimes is he also allowed to commit? Obviously a trip to A&E with a bruise and a bit of blood don't count for shit but what about a black eye or a lost tooth or a broken bone or permanent disfigurement or permanent sensory loss or brain damage? I suppose a bit of blurred vision don't much matter but permanent blindness is presumably not acceptable? The only possible reason not to boot him out is because he makes lots of money and as far as I know that is not represented as a reasonable exception anywhere or by anybody in our society or legal system. |

| Having just consulted my who-gives-a-feck-meter, Clarkson registers a big fat zero. Probably because he's a arrogant knob.
As for the other bloke - who? |

| Some people are really feckin annoying though and I think it's only right that they are punched if they step out of line but they should be warned first in the interests of justice. It would save the time of the police and the courts if punching replaced present day punishments, maybe a slap for a parking ticket, a kick up the arse if you're dog fouls the pavement and right good kicking for really bad crimes like fighting in the streets. The producer should probably just go and punch Clarkson back although Jezza is a bit of a lump matey could wait until he was a having a pint with Cameron and lay him out from just out of eyesight as he's distracted by some of Daves witty banter. Cameron would then hide behind his body guards screaming "yo got it cummin bitch!" he's a handful when he gets going. |

Format: cut the stupid stunts (basically anything that ever put Richard Hammond in small vehicle and Clarkson in a rocket-powered anything - that all got reeeeeeeeeeeally boring); focus on the cars; more "sensible" stunts (like racing against a letter in the post, getting across London via different modes of transport etc); look for wacky eccentrics anywhere in the motor industry/world.
If Top Gear is to continue the same old same old forced, non-PC blokey bantz should be ditched along with the previous presenters: time to evolve or die. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] why dont they just drop topgear all together and come up with a new show with those 3. no matter who hosts it the raitings wont be as high as the success of the show was down to clarkson/mat and hammond chemistry with some cars thrown in. |

| So have the final 3 shows of the last series been shredded and put in Aunties bin, or are they lurking ready for some legal fight. Seems an awful waste of (our) money? |

they will be shown later in the year Autumn time. The BBC obviously want something to go up against Downton Abbey that will be a ratings winner |

If the new top gear producers are smart they will get rid of the stig and just start afresh without carrying on anything from the clarkson era. |
