| He could stand amoung the politicians and you'd be hard pressed to pick him out from the other idiots, at least he's funny. I loved the Alex Salmond being first minister of Norfolk, so he really knows what being ignored by the rest of the country is like! |

| Al Murray must need the PR. Never found him funny. |

| Really? Anybody who knew Derek the welsh landlord down the Queens in Tamerton years ago couldn't fail to find him funny, he's a really clever caricature of thousands of pub landlords in fact. |

| Brilliant.
I guess the type of people who would vote for crusading man-of-the-people Farage probably haven't worked out that the Pub Landlord is a comedy character, so no doubt he'll cream off a few votes. Good work, sir. |

| I'm sure most of the people who laugh at him and think "Yeah! That's bloody right, that is" don't realise he's taking the piss out of them too.
Or is he taking the piss out of people like me who think he's a parody when really he isn't at all and it's all a double bluff and he's ripping into people like me instead?
Nah. Can't be. That'd be much too contrived an act to keep up for all this time.
Wouldn't it?
It is a very clever act. The Pub Landlord is right out of the character tradition that runs through Alf Garnet and Ali G. Al Murray walks the same very thin line extremely well. |

Probably true on many points, although comparing Alf Garnets' outright racism with ALS pub landlord stereotype is not such a good comparison IMO. like him or not he captures the pub landlord very well, you only have to look at the landlord of the St. Levans Gate to realise that the parody is alive and well in many places today still. There are other pubs that pay homage to nationalism and the BNP. A lot of this stems from the englishmans home and all that, a bloke buys a pub and it is HIS PUB! HIS RULES! (Or her rules as anybody that knew Bet at the cottage inn formerly of Diamond Lils would know) Not saying that it's right or wrong but it is out there. I would hazard a guess that it's his anti EU overtones that push you away from his comedy but it will attract a hell of a lot of people that feel the same way. No different from a comedian with an all emcompassing love of federalism or one who supports capalist globalisation, all cast in the same mould just with differing viewpoints. I see nothing offensive about Al Murray taking the piss out of opinionated bigots with old fashioned ideas and that's what he does and does it well. |

Oh yes he will "cream off a few votes", but it's unlikely he will steal them from Nigey, for every clueless muppet who crosses the wrong box there will be two or more who vote for Nigey because they will not like this unfunny, lefty, tw@ taking the piss out of the process. Local Labourites are well unhappy with the public school, Oxbridge educated, champagne socialist foisting himself into a contest they still think they can win. |

Why should it? The whole point of his act is that everything he says is absurd.
And Alf Garnet was racist. Undeniably. Everything he said was absurd too. |

| Is this really the way to encourage more people to engage with the political process? Some sort of parliamentary Celebrity Big Brother? Oh wait... |

| Nigey could easily lose this one, particularly if the Labour and Lib Dem supporters hold their noses and vote for the comparatively sane Tory. Just as a comparison, even Nick Clegg is 3-1 on to win his constituency. |

| Wait for the waffling Tory announcement pre election about getting a better deal in Europe and the scum will just nose it IMO, with the press on their side it will be inevitable. |

| The problem I've got with this, is that I just don't find much of Al Murray's schtick particularly funny any more. I thought his blurb in the Graun t'other day was a bit tired. Maybe it'll get better as UKIP inevitably humiliate themselves in the run up, but I'm not sure it worked too well in it's first outing. |

No, he was the deputy leader (you clueless feck). Most people are sane compared to your beloved Nigey, I guess. |

| Nigel wants an insurance based system, that would be the feckin end of health care for me, with a long history of back complaints I would have to pay a fortune or have exclusions on most of the bones in my body. Feck em we pay for the health service, it's ours, hands off. |

| There you have it: Vote UKIP = Lose the NHS.
As for an "insurance-based system"... Has he never heard of National Insurance? Here's big news for Nigey - WE HAVE ONE ALREADY.
If ever you needed proof in his own words that he is a complete and utter bastard then there it is.
(I thought of using "b*****d" but my post may have been interpreted as "bellend" and that isn't really getting to the nub of the matter.)
Only a fool could support him. |

Don't buy that lefty propaganda Iggster, the NHS is fooked whoever wins the next election it is simply too expensive in its current form, the Kip would be no worse than the LibLabCon. |
