| Thought an interesting thing to try would be a different debate each week, political or philosophical. The debate is already a much higher quality on this site but for a bit of fun, every Thursday I'll come up with a new debate topic! So.. Modern feminism. Can it bring about gender equality? |

How would they swap shirts at the end of the match? What about the communal shower post match? Imagine all the groping going on in the box, err, I mean in the penalty area!! |

I agree Without a well explained definition of this the subject is illdefined and difficult to stay on track. If you can define what you perceive the phrase to mean, then just possibly someone might discus theory (not me). As 6ft, 11 stone 40 year old woman, I have my doubts re equality. Clearly define your hypothesis and right or wrong, you'll get feedback. Keep your brain going Josh, 'tis good for you |

Interesting, is it ever likely to happen? Men and women develop differently but if it was like Fatima Whitbread, and I don't really believe she wasn't on hormones, then it's just cause the rules state so. Is that something feminism would fight though? |

Hmm. What exactly do you mean by 'modern feminism'? Only I can't say I see much feminism - of any flavour - nowadays. As for gender equality, I'd say we're going backwards rather than forwards - look at the pay gap, for instance. Still, though. Capitalism needs divisions to keep us all at each other's throats and to stop us waking up and doing something about the real culprits. Innit. |

| I don't think feminists do themselves or their cause any good at all by getting all bent out of shape about trivial such things as Dr. Matt Taylor's shirt or "man spreading" whilst largely ignoring far more serious issues like FGM, forced marriage, women being sold as sex slaves or industrial scale rape in UK towns & cities. |
