PLYMOUTH Argyle will play ‘reserve team matches’ once a week for the next month.

Three Southern Group B games in the Final Third Development League Cup, which were all postponed earlier in the season, have now been rearranged.

That is in addition to a game against Newport County, which has always been scheduled for Home Park on Tuesday, January 27 (2pm).

The flurry of fixtures over the next month will allow Argyle manager John Sheridan to make sure all of his squad get plenty of match practice.

The Pilgrims will play the first of their four group games against Portsmouth at Home Park on Tuesday, January 13 (1pm).

Argyle will then play away to Bristol City at the South Gloucestershire and Stroud College WISE campus on Monday, January 19 (2pm).

Next up will be the game against Newport, followed by an away fixture against Cheltenham Town on Wednesday, February 4 (2pm) at the Robins’ training ground.

The top two teams in Southern Group B will qualify for the semi-finals of the competition, along with the leading two sides from Group A.

The clubs competing in Group A are AFC Wimbledon, Brighton and Hove Albion, Cambridge United, Gillingham, Luton Town and MK Dons.

There will be free admission to season ticket holders for Argyle’s home games against Portsmouth and Newport.

Otherwise, fans will be charged £3 for adults and £1 for concessions
