I was there for the last couple of months. Interestingly (actually boringly), it took me a month or so to register on the site as the infiltrators had disabled the option for newbies to sign up. Had they not tried to kill it then it would have died a death and ATD would never had been born.

Its a shame that the site is gone because it would give everyone the option to see what a total cnut Newell is. His behaviour (and Ponty's) was a disgrace and it is something that people need to see. He knows that he couldn't get away with that sort of thing again and that is why he won't sign up to ATD.

No its gone into the ether, Ian Newell hadn't trained us in the art of having to record everything back then and before he got the chance to be one of Brent's lap dogs.

Don't think so Al, Ponty and Newell deleted a lot of the threads/ posts on it.

The porn link was a mistake by a current ATD Mod who didn't realise "big gay bears" had another meaning (I think he thought it referred to large happy animals)

I guess I was (sort of) in transition between here and P@SOTI - still on both though - so I must have missed it when knecht and penz (presumably "Penzance Pirate" on P@SOTI?) left ATD. Both were almost polar oppposites to me in terms of politics/outlook (particularly PP) but they were both very principled guys and I would almost always take the time to read their posts in full (relatively few P@SOTI posters merit that treatment from me any more).

Why did they leave ATD?

I seem to remember that he did have an issue there some time ago,deleted his account but later came back as Winter Green [i think].Not sure if his absence is due to DTT,something in the back of my mind says that he was going to take a break anyway.

I think Penz has returned again since although that's only a hunch and we all know how reliable they are

Penz is certainly missed on here as is knecht and Jock.

Not to mention Gob, sure he was like marmite for a lot of people but he was a good poster.

Get rid of Tring, Rickler n GOB and you'll have a nice little forum...................

Tis true! Stopped posting for a few years, but I came back on both Pasoti and ATD. Shock horror, I didn't last long on Pasoti, despite being very careful not to break any of their constitutionally protected RULES. I remember that forum being bad before, but it's overzealous moderating has hit incredible levels, overtly political moderators loyal to the chairman, actively hunting dissenters, and a site owner who provokes and bullies others without reprimand - whilst those who inevitably fire back are banned.

Sadly the quality of posters and debates on there really is at an all time low. I'm surprised others haven't picked up on how much more vibrant and busy the place used to be. It's like the Lion King ruled by Scar over there now, as opposed to the old days under Mufasa.

Meanwhile, while there have always been alternatives to Pasoti, they have tended to struggle to attract regular posters and discussion traffic. ATD is starting to bridge the divide now - a respectable number of regulars now, ever more defections from the bully's paradise, with more and more realising the virtues of having untampered, unedited, laissez faire Argyle debate.

Once upon a time I was more like GreenSam is now, spent what I could on following Argyle, was passionate about the club on and off the field, and devoted time to posting thoughts. These days I can't really be arsed with all that, just want to see quality attacking football, good young players coming through and Argyle top of the league - which at this level shouldn't be too bloody much to ask for.

As for the other two, I think this site is a much better place without them. sensiblegreeny's posts were brutal to read, long-winded, pedantic. He used to cherrypick the points he would reply to and ignore the rest because he was/is completely incapable of admitting wrongness. hairy was just an irritating nuisance - the online equivalent of pubic lice...
