| I hope Argyle get Northampton Town or AFC Wimbledon at home.
That would be an ideal draw to progress..... |

I ought to have learned my lesson when we beat Preston 6-4 in 1984. Same here. And weirdly i missed all but the last 15 minutes of that Preston game through playing a rare Saturday match that day, played most of my football on Sundays.'Twas a very remarkable 15 minutes though. Not being there the details in my memory are vague but didn't we come back from 4-3 down to win 6-4. I also seem to recall a couple of penalties and sendings off too.
A quite remarkable game which I decided not to go to in order to save a few quid because times was hard.
Just like tonight really. Just looked it up,Argyle went 4-3 down to a penalty in the 82nd minute, then scored in the 84th,86th and 89th minutes, one of which was indeed a penalty.Preston did have two players sent off,one of whom was Tommy Booth who scored the equaliser for Manchester City in the league cup semi at HP 10 years earlier.Fecking served him right. |

| Well worth a tenner. Played a 5 at the back but with the wingbacks pushing on. Thomas really good until he had an asthma attack. We counter attacked very quickly. They played very pretty football but when they lost the ball were slow to get back. Luke was magnificent. Mellor deveoping into a very good fullback. Curtis his consistent self. Smalley impressed, lack of pace but worked his wottsits off and gave their defence a hard time. Allesandro looked sharp and took his goals well. Norburn held it all together in the middle of the park and Tyler worked hard, playing some really clever balls through to the front two. They brought on three of their first team players in the second half and who knows what would have been if they played from the start but that's their mistake. As I said, great value for money. |
