If it's any consolation, a mate of mine saved up for four years to go to the West Indies to watch England in a test match out there. It happened to be this test match; [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Four years saving to watch 10 overs of cricket and about the same number of visits to the pitch by the physio! He got his match ticket refunded but that was it. He had a damned good time in Montego Bay though. |

| Hard to believe they were basically the same two sides that played in the first two tests, it wont be easy going to Trent Bridge without Jimmy. |

| So the 4th Test starts tomorrow and in a few days England might have regained the Ashes.
The problem is that we have followed every win this year with a defeat so who knows what is going to happen. Traditionally Trent Bridge has favoured us, but after last years snooze fest against India there is the danger that we might be playing on a flat track that the Aussies will love.
It looks like Wood will come in for Anderson, but I fancy that Broad will be the match winner for us. I think there are too many cracks starting to show in the Aussie team and I wonder if the pressure of being one defeat away from losing the Ashes will get to them. |

| i feel it will come down to the 5th test. England are too hot/cold as are Australia for it to be settled this week. |

Hope you're right but the pattern of Ashes test matches [whole series come to that] since the break up of the great Aussie team of the 90's/00's has been so polar and unpredictable that I certainly wouldn't put much money on an England win. It could be very crucial that Anderson's replacement fires on all cylinders but It is a bit worrying that Clarke has done nothing so far-a player of that standard isn't in the doldrums forever and hopefully his next big score doesn't come in this match. Still don't trust England's batting when under real pressure, especially if Australia bat first and put a big total on the board. All good stuff though, i suppose you can say that it sure isn't boring. |

| Cook tosses, Clarke gets it wrong!
Aussies put in on a green un.
Clarke drops to #5. Shaun Marsh (who he?) in at #4. Mitchell Marsh left out. (Could be wrong. Too many Mitchells and Marshes about.)
Wood in for Jimmy.
The Ashes could be ours by lunchtime. |
