| John Sheridan to talk to James Brent about adding to Plymouth Argyle squad probs will be told no.
We need cover for both flanks in defence and midfield as the numbers are thin and that missing piece of the puzzle that Hourihane gave in the middle. Not convinced Norburn will be it at all.
Morgan needs to up his game and if he can up front will be our strongest area along with in goal.

| Norburn is looking alright to me, he and Cox should make a pretty decent League Two pairing. We need 1 more centre mid for back-up and competition and a right sided defender who can be back up for Mellor &/or Curtis. I've seen a few calls for a natural winger in the Joe Bryan form, and don't get me wrong I'd love Joe Bryan back, but we've got plenty of widemen who can also play centrally in the form of Lewi, Smalley, Thomas, Banton, Lecointe, Morgan. I'd really prefer us to sign another striker, an out and out striker who knows how to play of Reid the same way Lavery did. |

Left is more of an issue than the right side of the defence for me. Purrington and thats it really other than McHugh or Hartley i forget which one of them covers that position unwillingly elsewhere. At least with Mellor and Nelson they can play on the Right side naturally. While i still would bring in another midfielder like Andreas who can play anywhere across the field we must take the budger and squadsize into account first. |

| I am certainly not on the ball today, or with it for that matter. |

| My first look at the team will hopefully be the home game against ECFC. So I can't comment on how Argyle are doing until then and i am only going on what i have read from this site and PASOTI regarding these Pre-Season friendlies (oh, and the Herald too).
It is a mixed bag of comments from others though, with some saying that things look ok, to some saying it looks dire. |

We can still only handle one injury/absence to defence though. Say Nelson gets injured. We have to go: Mellor Hartley McHugh Purrington Another injury there and we are calling on a raw kid (as if Purrington isn't), a 37 year old who just can't move anymore, or Blizzard, a slow, weak streaky defensive mid who is not up to CB at all. I just can't see promotion here, our back up players aren't of the sufficient grade. We got away with Reid, Hourihane and Nelson not picking up a single injury between them last season, we might not be so lucky with injuries for another 50 games. |

| Interesting that this story has been given to the press. It suggests either that Sheridan is using the press to put some pressure on Brent to open the purse strings or (more likely) Brent wants to let it be known that more signings might be coming, but without guarenteeing anything.
Haven't seen any of the pre-season matches, but we desperately need some defensive cover. I presume that the loan market is going to be utilised for this. |

| For Sheridan to publicly state he is going to talk to Brent and Starnes about signing a couple more players, would suggest that his budget is all but used up already. This may be the players he has signed are relatively expensive for this division and he is gambling on a small squad not getting injuries, which has been done before, particularly in the past when there was only substitute allowed. Sturrock didn't use many players in his first team but it's a dangerous strategy and can go wrong very easily. For the squad to be looking paper thin before the season starts is not a good sign. |

| Brent will probably let Sheridan sign some unemployed footballer with issues, or loads of previous clubs. After all, under this regime Argyle is footballs last chance saloon for the desperate. |

| Didn't someone say we were re-signing Terribo West? An 8 year contract apparently that will take him up to his 50th birthday. We could then try to re-sign Barry Hayles from Truro if we can match what they're paying him and the jobs a good un #ITSALLCOMINGTOGETHERNICELY #STRIPESAREBACK #WALLOFCOLOUR |
