I got given a NICE watch a couple of years ago. I WAS doing well with it, almost ALWAYS telling the time to people when asked, and SOMETIMES chipping it into a conversation when not asked. I was wearing it well USUALLY on my wrist as my 'go-to' timepiece.
And then - DRAMA! A couple of weeks back I caught it somewhat INNOCUOUSLY on a bollard in town. The glass screen CRACKED and the metal frame SCRATCHED.
It's a NICE watch for me, and I thought I'd go the right way about fixing it, so I bubble-wrapped it up and sent it insured CLASS to Citizen watch repairs. They've come back with a quote of £208.32. This is foreshorely UTTER madness, all I want is the glass screen replaced and if possible the metal framing around it too (NOT fussed on this second part).
For this price I wouldn't be far off buying another one BRAND new. Certainly if it happened again I could do so.
I'm inclined to let them send it back to me and see WHO ELSE can do it for what price - has anyone had a watch fixed independently before? Is it likely to be much cheaper? Can anyone on this forum even TELL the time?
