Lots of bad feeling in Brazil about the WC, loads living in poverty yet the government spend billions on new stadia and "pacifying" the favelas by driving out the armed dealers and replacing them with armed police. In some ways it is better as tourists can now visit and bring some welcome money however the residents used to steal their electricity and now have to pay for it. Also the authorities are condemning lots of slum dwellings saying they aren't fit to live in. Funnily enough these houses were mainly in prime areas with views across the city and beach.
Lots of civil unrest has resulted in the authorities backing off with this plan (I expect they will resume when the WC is over).
Lots wrong with football and the WC, I think that Brazil will be a tipping and or turning point, fingers crossed.
