Semper Fi

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=se9UEyLpGns

A version you won't have heard before I can promise you that much...   And played all the way through!

Played by my sons middle school band at the end of their yearly two day tour, playing for other schools and senior resting homes.

The kids are between twelve and fourteen and hardly anyone had touched an instrument before they started in 4th grade.

Not quite the Royal Marine Band, but trying hard!

I couldn't resist at the end....

Some would say that Semper is past it's sell by date as a signature tune and should be replaced by something more modern but not for me.Still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end whenever i hear it and it's bleddy annoying when that compere starts speaking over it about half way through. My father said it started to be played at Home park just after the war, maybe it was a tribute to the US troops still in the country at the time-i believe it's the signature tune for the US marines as well.Great stuff Ricks, good to see the word being spread far and wide.

sempre fe, always faithful, nuff sed. Tis a good Sousa march and for me has longevity unlike some of tje very recent pop music used at other grounds. I think the liberty bell would go down well at agyle though Smile
