Banton won the ball over and over again. He was the best of a bad bunch but he'd be a very good player with a good bunch. I didn't mention Hourihane as I expect him to be playing well every game and, in general, he does - that's why he's the captain. With all due respect, I've seen every game at home thus far and believe it or not, that was a good first twenty minutes. The ten minutes prior to going 2-1 down was good too. If we played like that all season, we'd have won a lot of games this season that we've drawn and lost.
The two goals we let in were both long balls, over the top of a static and slow back four. They had little craft but we played with some craft, albeit sporadically in a dull game.
You should have seen us against exeter and york if you thought today was bad. I must admit that i was puzzled by the reaction of a certain section of the crowd today in that first 20 minutes, when it was obvious that Argyle were attempting to play from the back and through midfield, sometimes successfully, sometimes not. There has been much criticism this season [and other seasons as well] that Argyle have resorted to the long ball too often, which i would agree with. But the passing game by definition requires patience and there wasn't much of that shown when a couple of sideways passes were played early on,when they were clearly the only option other than a hopeful ball to the frontmen.Plenty of moaning and groaning transpired, which probably didn't really help matters on the field. Not having a go at the fans, who have shown remarkable restraint in this and previous seasons, but you can't have your cake and eat it when it comes to this particular playing style. |

I concede defeat to someone who saw worse & still keeps going. &, Greenskin, I agree that their attempts to play the passing game was laudable - certainly infinitely better than the long ball. It just didn't come off today. |

- Oh how we laughed at relegating Pompey on the final day of the season. Pompey are now one point behind us.
3 games ago we were looking at having to win on the last day of the season to consolidate the playoffs, possibly at Pompey's expense as they get relegated. They will probably finish ahead of us in all seriousness. |

| I was beginning to think that every time my name was on one of these threads we lost but as I'm not really superstitious I've decided it's more likely to be the simple fact we are just crap. |
