Ah, the old Spion Kop, shitty roof on the Demport and a packed Mayflower. Halcyon days indeed.  Give me those days back over the current clusterfuck and perennial shitefest we're going through any day of the week.

Still, look how far we've come. Mad

PS: Nice find, Gob. Thumbs

I can still remember that sense of excitement that we had for an evening match as I approached those corrugated iron turnstiles at the Lyndhurst entrance. It really was awesome then!

The buzz has gone from HP these days.

"Although modernisation may have been required , the three new sides are unimaginative clones of countless new stands across the country."

That's the legacy.

In a sense the stupid situation we're in now re the possibility for future expansion & the lack of a ground to be proud of is attributable to Macauley's shoddy plans.

You are not wrong there mate.

I hate sitting at a football match, soulless experience. Unless there is to be a re-introducing of small scale standing, then Home Park will remain a soulless stadium.

The days of a "rocking" Home Park are gone...

You could hear the 'click click click' of those old iron turnstiles, and the shout of "puhgim, geeeet yeeer puhgim" for miles.  Laughing Oh, and the shitty smell of Bovril. Eeyyuuk!!

don't forget the urinals and the subsequent damp feet! Then there was the greaseproof paper that tore your arse to shreds...it was still better though!  clown

The atmosphere in the Lyndhurst was very special. Use to love the old terracing behind the dugout also, watching the fans over there boo the ref every week and giving opposing managers grief. We will never see the likes of that again or hear a noise like it. I cannot believe some turn a blind eye to all this in exchange for a few prawns and s seat with Tony Wrathall after all their words.

Loved the old ground before the re-development. Such a great atmosphere for the big games, my favourite being the play off semi final against Colchester. That game had everything.

It's amazing to think there was only 14000 there that night. The noise... The drama...

There'd've been the biggest riot Plymouth has ever seen had we not won!

14k? Umm, just like the '20k' we had in our 4-1 winner against Brizzle City! Anyway, that header. I can remember it now like it was yesterday to send us on our way to Wembley. Happy days!

I felt ill for about 3 days afterwards.

That night was a bit much!

Anything to do with post-match celebratory drinky-poos, Franny?  Laughing

If it's any consolation, I too was ill for 24 hours after drinking the Cheery Tree dry in my excitement of potentially going to Wembley for the first time. The fact that my mother and father were running the Cherry Tree at the time had nothing to do with the amount of, shall we say, discount/free beer that was miraculously available!  drunken
