Before my time but the opinions expressed on how good he was are unanimous-many thought that he was a better player than Matthews.Imagine a player of that class spending his whole career at a club like Preston now,how times have changed.RIP Sir Tom.

More direct and likely to score than Matthews who was trickier. IMO.

My dad said that Finney was one of our greatest footballers, as Pete says, more likely to score than Matthews.

Matthews was a winger who made goals for others.

Finney could play anywhere up front and scored his share of goals.
