| On the positive side Dave Smith ended the season W11 D1 L1.
That'd do it.
Of course we'd have to win the play-offs but with the momentum those results bestowed upon us I reckon we would. |

Think that's been said before somewhere. Can't think where. I don't have a problem with people dreaming silly dreams. that's up to them. What I have a problem with is people having a moan at people who have bad dreams, or nightmares even. Apparently they're illegal and indicate a negative soul. I can't see much reason anymore for the sort of dreams people used to have concerning Argyle. That sort of thing seems beyond this club now for at least 10 years. Same applies to Portsmouth. Any wave worth anything will be diverted elsewhere to feed the greedy mouths of those that should have lost their money. Intensive care, shackled to the bed, where the body is kept alive purely for the blood it can supply to the money men. If anyone thinks this team is good enough to catch 8 or 9 points over several clubs by the end of the season, maybe they should take some night nurse or get some counselling. The cat's dreaming of catching 3 mice tomorrow. No, she won't. In reality, she'll be by the wood burner waiting for better days. Happily, for said cat, better days WILL arrive fairly shortly. The football club, however, has years of glum to look forward to. |

Oxford again dropped points yesterday, as did Scunthorpe, Chesterfield, Southend and Dagenham & Redbridge. Plenty of time for a lot to change.
Here we go again!
To make up 8 points we have to win 3 in a row. The problem being that in those 3 games the target will have moved. If I guess they manage WDL then we need another win. That's 4 in a row. From that point, if 4 wins is enough, we have to match or better the 7th placed team which will probably need 4 from every 6 points for the rest of the season (maybe slightly fewer and something like 7 from every 12). So that's us unbeaten for the rest of the season and a run of 5 consecutive wins in there somewhere.
Alternatively last season 68 pts would have secured 7th place. We have 39 pts from 29 games. Meaning we need 29 points from 17 games. So 10 wins. Or W9 D2 L6. Or W8 D5 L4. Or W7 D8 L4. Or W6 D11 L0.
Certainly not impossible but I will not be beating a path to the bookies to place my bet on it happening. Where that analogy falls down though is it doesn't take into account the 6 pointer games. You know three points we get and the other team doesn't get,so in effect 6 points....Plus Bradford came from the chasing pack last season, seized a play off spot and then got promoted,so its not impossible. |

| We can all have dreams but while there has been a marked improvement on the last couple of years, we have still been pretty crap most of the time. Then again the general standard of football in this division is abysmal, so it's probably not impossible for a pretty crap team to get into the play offs.
Reality says it's not going to happen though. |

Of course we'd have to win the play-offs but with the momentum those results bestowed upon us I reckon we would. That'd be 34 more points from the last 13 games. Given that we have 16 left, if we get 7 points from the next three then that'd be 41 more points which would be enough to get automatic. If only! |

| If 68 points was the target then each 4 game sequence will need to contain something like WWDL |

That, sir, is unadulterated bollocks of the highest order. For starters I don't see that I have posted an analogy anywhere... Was there an unusual dearth of 6 pointers last season? And nowhere have I said that it is impossible for us to be promoted. What I have suggested is that it would take an almost incredible run of results for it to happen. |

Hmmmm. Doable but I think we'll fall short and end on about the 60/61 mark. |

| Not sure if I recall correctly but was wasn't John Harbin at Crystal Palace when they started off slowly one season and was about 17th at xmas but went on an insane run of form that saw them win promotion to the PL under Ian Dowie. |

Plus Morgan coming back will be like a new signing |

Plus Morgan coming back will be like a new signing true but he will take a few games to get back to match fitness after being out for so long. I jsut hope some fans will remember that if he hasnt scored in his first game back,. |

I think he has a little more about him than just being a tall target man, he showed that with his ability to play the left wing. |

| Spoke to him (Morgan) when he came to PASALB meeting before Christmas...pleasant chap.
Said he had better offers...but preferred PAFC because it was a bigger club and had a decent ground compared to some others....seemed keen to do well at Argyle. |

| I have high hopes for Morgan. After his first couple of games I reckoned he was a good shout to eventually be named POTY but then he got injured and it all went wrong for him.
His return does amount to him being a "new" signing. Let's hope he hits the ground running and doesn't need too long to play his way back.
If he weighs in with 10 goals or so in what remains of the season then who knows! |

| Where will Morgan fit in the side, amongst Reid and Banton both wanting to be in the centre of attack? |

| Banton is no striker, his main purpose in the team should be to create and provide chances for others imo, he is capable of nicking a few goals here and there though. |

Same as yesterday minus Boco, plus Morgan. |

| I have a slight problem with Morgan in that he seemed intent on 'attacking' the player rather than standing his ground and attacking the ball. M Evans Esq was the purveyor in chief of doing just that and Morgan could take a few lessons from him. I know it sounds a bit tenuous but because of the way he goes about his business I don't think he's going to get alot out of referees in the way of free kicks. Hey ho it's probably just me.

| Yes, Dougie, and playing the man was always what dear old Rory used to do, also to hopeless effect and the continual detriment of the team. He must have given away 10 free kicks a game. In comparison Evans rarely got picked up. He held his ground, made himself as wide as possible, that wasn't difficult. Hayles obviously did exactly the same, but with feet firmly planted on the ground. Give Morgan some videos to study, although I'm not sure how easy it is to teach such a skill, as in truth it's almost an instinctive thing that few manage well. Both Evans and Hayles had success with their style even at the top level. Morgan ain't in that class. |

| Also Evans & Hayles had strength through a well built frame......I was surprised how thin Morgan is for 6ft 4in height. |

| I loved Barry Hayles, short, fat and old but surely one of the shrewdest players i've ever seen play for us and his workrate and commitment was second to none(Jason Banton take note) |

Agreed. Not unlike Suarez in the bite, fight n scratch stakes. He certainly 'developed' Ebanks. |

Yep that's how it is, the twats will be the fist to moan when they are asked to pay rip off car parking fees outside the ground courtesy of that fine upstanding company N.C.P. as arranged by the reluctant bidder (just an example). No.
Because most of the "twats" posting in that thread will have their own parking spaces anyway, alongside their private seats in the corporate shelf.
