What do people make of Gurrieri?

I was mildly surprised that Sheridan offered him a new deal in the summer, and nothing I’ve seen from Gurrieri since suggests that he will ever come good.

He isn’t particularly fit or quick, isn’t very strong on the ball and often seems to give it away cheaply despite words from Sheridan in the past to the effect that he looks after it.

But he does track his man and works hard.

Will his upcoming suspension make space for a more attacking winger to emerge? I hope so.

I think he's very much in the mould of stereotypical 4th division player. On occasion he can look tidy. Other times he can look like he shouldn't be anywhere near a professional outfit. You're right he does put in a shift, but that's probably the minimum requirement when you're not blessed with an abundance of natural ability.

Hes just one player out of a whole lot more who we should be looking at releasing, selling or getting rid off if we are to have any credible ambitions of ever making it out of L2.
The problem lies in that as soon as we get rid of shit they are invariably replaced by other shit because of our "competitive budget", and lets be honest, the very last thing JB and certain sections of the fanbase want is promotion.

At the start of the season gurrieri was always used as a sub for the last 20 mins of the game. When he came on the tempo and quality of the game always seemed to improve. He can sometimes do some really good passes. A good squad player but not the next maradona.

Not a fan. Has one good game, followed by too many below par ones and the cycle starts again. Handy squad player, maybe if we're being charitable. Never in a million years the calibre of player who should be starting for a promotion chasing time. Probably our worst regular starting player. Lots of huff and puff, very limited ability.

Typical of the mould of players we have signed during Brent's tenure. To me it's obvious that we should be signing league 1 quality players to get out of this league, signing league 2 players makes us a league 2 outfit. We only need to sign decent a decent player or two and the others should realise our ambition and join a club on the up, momentum is everything at this time of year sadly most of our players are like Gurerri and league 2 squad players only.

I think he is an ok player. He has got a bit of pace and can play some decent football, but can drift out of a game quickly.

I saw the highlights of the Rochdale game, not sure if he deserved to be sent off in that game.

I hope Shez offers him another contract for next season,as i think he can improve.

Well with the signings of Banton and Parsons, I'm hoping that Shez is gradually piecing together the kind of side that he's been patiently trying to build since he arrived and that players like Gurrieri will fall away at some point soon.

But for the minute he's going to be in the squad most weeks given that we've only really got Thomas, Boco, Banton and Alessandra as alternatives, two of which are going to be in the running for playing up top due to our lack of firepower.

Another thing which, for me, suggests that we're not quite ready for a promotion assault just yet.

Got a lot of strings to his bow. Fantastic attitude, never say die, and clearly a popular human being.

As a footballer he gives 100% - so you have boundless energy and commitment. He can dribble from box to box, routinely scares the opposition by running at them, and has been known to play some lovely passes.

His weakness is that he is too lightweight, non existent aerially, no tackling presence. Gurrieri lacks a lot of the star quality at times - and crucially, can't really be used on the wing as he doesn't cross well.

At the end of the day, Banton is a frustrating player - doesn't track, stands hand on hip waiting for the ball. When Banton is not scoring or contibuting, but playing bone idle, Gurrieri is a fantastic antidote - with infectious enthusiasm.

From what I have seen he is one of a very small few within the team who can actually run with the ball which is what a professional player should be able to do.

we got a bargain considering Man Utd spent £38m on a player that does exactly the same  cheers cheers
