A loss in my view, he was starting to play a lot more through the middle and his finishing was much improved, fortunately I can see Sturridge or Berahino in a similar role, albeit with a bit less pace.

I am more and more coming to the view that Woy needs to drop the dead donkeys and take the kids, we ain't gonna win in Brazil, let's at least give ourselves a head start toward the Euros en France.

This has to be the only world cup from my lifetime where i am finding it hard to guess the 23 man squad. Walcott is a loss both to England and to Arsenal his style could have come in handy in some games.

I agree with you that we ought to take the kids over the old guard and use this world cup like the aussies used the ashes last summer and get ourselves ready for the next one. however i would try and talk john terry back into the fold given how weak our defence is.

Tis a pity for the lad although i feel we have other players who can do a similar job for Woy. I agree that youth and fitness will be an important factor in this WC, particularly in the hottest venues.  sunny

I reckon it's a big loss for both England and Arsenal. He was hitting top form and is a handful because of his pace. Even if it was just as a substitute when defenders were tiring he would've been a danger man.

Pace is one of the few weapons we have especially against an ageing side like maybe Italy. Obviously you need to tune it with something resembling technical prowess, but Walcott has scored quite a few goals in the last couple of years. I wonder if he'll ever come back properly or if like Owen perhaps this is his time up.

As long as Boutros Boutros Townsend doesn't get injured then Walcott won't be missed. They were vying for the same slot in the starting 11 anyways.

Dane, that's a bit sick.

Jock, Young is a horrible, diving, cheating c*nt who isn't good enough for England imo.

Townsend has had a couple of good games and thats been it so far in his career. Im yet to be convinced he is some sort of saviour at the moment.

Daniel Sturridge will be vital there just not tom Cleverley as he is absolute crap.

I think Jocko doth jest.

I actually think when Young is fit and on form he's a really good player. He showed that when he first went to United. He blows hot and cold too much tho.

Same injury that took Owen from super star to also ran, I had that very thought earlier.

Townsend is already injured, I wonder if his body is ready for a hard season then off to Brazil, in fact I think that is probably the biggest issue for us once again, all our players will be basket cases before the damn thing kicks off.
