| Right then................... I'm going to have a small dram, hot bath and off to bed - I have been working all night, I haven't been to bed yet, and I'm fading fast. But it's ok. You feckers go out and enjoy yourselves. |

| Went outside this morning to find half of my houses guttering all over the lawn plus half the garage roof missing. Merry Xmas indeed. |

| It never ceases to amaze me, who on earth would want to steal half a garage roof, and at Christmas FFS!
I know how you feel Punch, I had exactly the same happen to me last year and I was half afraid to get up this morning still having the botched garage roof from last year. It wasn't so bad this year though, the garage roof is still there but the garage door decided it wanted to go walk about! |

I see you ex-pats still have the dubious taste you are famed for ( the bar, not the Pogues), and wall to wall football too.Yyuuuuukkkk!!! I thought you had some style Tringy ? You'll probably be getting the J Oliver canteen look by 2030. Still, each to their own. Keep safe and watch out for someone crashing through your roof. Could be Santa, the police, or Turkish paras. You never know these days. I remember trying to get the Shane Macgowan away from hospitality and up on stage one night at a Devon festival, could have been Hood. Great stuff once we got him up there, but what an effort. How does he keep doing it ? An excellent song, on my all time list. |

It is arguably the best bar/restaurant in town and is 95% Cypriot clientele. The expat enclaves are not my thing. Fascinating old building with wood panelling, rock memorabilia and classy curios everywhere, not nailed down. An outside but not outside bar, with heaters/open fires in winter and air con /fans in summer, where major sports matches are shown, interspersed with classic British/American rock. Smoking is almost obligatory I've always thought how well the place would go down in Tring, if only we had the climate. Not so sure about the Muff though. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]You can use your skills to do the virtual tour here......... [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] It will give you a better view of the quality the establishment exudes, even if it does scare you with some live football. All the PL games are live out here. You'd hate it ! Do you have a favourite pub dear boy ?

| I do actually off the top of my head, although beer tents in a field are my thing if pushed. The Blue Anchor at Helston, The Hobgoblin ( now called the "Alehouse" and also the Grapes in Reading, the Bay Horse in Totnes is a regular haunt, the Bell in Bath, the Lamb and Flag in Oxford when travel permits, The Double Locks in Exeter in the Summer often. I used to use the Wellington in Plymouth before it closed and rarely drink in Plymouth pubs these days, but if pushed, I use Bread and Roses, a "community" and network pub that used to be the Trafalgar. They've made big changes there so good luck to them.
I was tickling you a bit Tringy, and I understand the attractions of such a beach bar. We now have something similar on a few beaches in Cornwall of which the Blue Bar at Porthtowan is a cracker on the right night, especially in the Autumn surfing season, but definitely no sport on show in that bar. That is left to the sports pub in the "village". Also the Bowgie is a good football pub at Crantock if desperate for a fix. Have always liked the Blue Peter at Polperro. |
