| Couple of games from my time following Argyle:
FA Cup 6th Round PAFC 0 Watford 1 2007 - a victorty for us would have given us a huge money spinner at wembley for a semi final, holloway could then have bought Sinclair promtoion push the next season ?
PAFC 1 Blackburn 3 - Had we won/stayed up Shilton would im sure have been given backing the next season and the Devonport end would have been rebuilt (as rumoured around that time) ultimate relegation to 4th div wouldnt have happened or at least as quickly.
Burnley 2 PAFC 1 - Victory would have saved us probably 5 years in the doldrums, decent players in that squad wouldnt have left. Mick Jones a bit unlucky there. |

| Agree with all of them, but it happens to every club at times. |

| The Watford one's an interesting call. Obviously hypotheticals, but was it the original board at the time or the NWO? Would the dollar have gone to Holloway's side or to the shmokey shmokey Plymuff winter chunderland with Stapes' mullet humping the hind leg of the Japanese and the esteemed knight who graced us with his failures? |

| Was the Watford game the one where we were mugged by a much more street wise team than our team of fancy dans? I remember Halmosi getting water sprayed on him whilst on the ground injured by their big centre back? It all kicked off and was it Boothroyd? who complained about our behaviour, big bundle in the tunnel, and we drew the game we should have won? Or was that a league match? Im going to have another whiskey and wait until Greenskins turns up. |

| the boothroyd battle was the following year.
conversely had argyle lost against darlington in the play off final the club may have gone into meltdown then ?
im sure there are other BIG games that have proved decisive.

The biggest of all hasnt been mentioned. Port Vale 2 Argyle 1 1994. Not only did it cost us automatic promotion but also the tackle by Swann made us buy him. We repeated that scouting trick with Scott Taylor and Nick Chadwick |

'twas indeed the league match where it all kicked off,Iggers. The cup tie was when Argyle seemed to freeze in the first 20 minutes and Watford duly took the lead.Argyle battered them after that but they had Ben Foster on loan from Man Utd and he pulled off quite a few blinders, although it seemed to be one of those games where you were never really convinced that Argyle were going to score.Certainly would have been a money spinner in the semi against United, whether it would have made much dfference ultimately is difficult to say. |

| Some good shouts on this thread.
The Blackburn game moved us even further away from the TV money just when it all went big time. Football hasunder gone seismic upheaval since then but Jack Walker was the first to heavily bank roll a club to glory and he put the template in place that others have since followed. It's a model that has directly led, "exploited" is a word that springs to mind, to the crazy modern world of football finance as we now know it.
That Peter Swan Port Vale game was the cherry on the Blackburn bun.
Perhaps we could ask when did we ever win such a game? Darlo at Wembley was a false dawn, beating QPR led nowhere... |

What Blackburn, Burnley and Watford? Jellllllous! We've had a couple of European Champions and a whole host of World Cup winners grace us with their presence at Sid James but we don't go on about how we could be better than we are, we do what we do and accept the odd good times, four consecutive Christmases looking down on you lot being the zenith of our achievements to date, and we're just luvvin it. Happy Days. |

| Course I get the point of the thread, the OP post suggests the game vs Watford was a crossroads in argyle history.
My point was argyle never got close to beating Watford on the night. didn't perform at all. |
