| No, not a dig about non payment, just watching the Jacks play Valencia and thinking what good codition the pitch is in considering the Ospreys have played rugby on it twice in the last two weeks. |

| Yep, it's about the only thing at Home Park that is genuine Prem quality.
Some proper pitches here......I was at at the Argyle v Dorking game 21 years ago stood on hastily erected scaffold planks around the pitch perimeter. Happy Days.

...... I have recently been told in support of an earlier contention about the poor condition of the pitch at Argyle that the possible problems there won't show them selves in the short term. Corners are being cut in the maintenance of the structure that will lead to the pitch suffering in future. Another rumour that may or may not be shown to be true. |

I'm not so sure about the validity of these pitch rumours, I've heard them myself but the pitch is more akin to a hydroponic system than an organic bed. There is very little soil to grow in and what is there is extremely sandy so that it drains. This means the nutrients instead of being locked into the soil are fed in solution through the irrigation system. They get stripped out very quickly by the drainage when it rains. If there were any problems with the feeding regime it would be evident quite quickly as it was when the pitch wasn't get fed properly during admin. As for long term unless the sand/soil actually got washed away nothing would harm the turf as long as it gets water, light, food and adequate temperatures, four things needed for life innit. |

"light" eh, might be an issue then when the new mega stand blots out the sun? Sorry, never could resist a long hop. |

Unbelievably dry winter so far. The Wiggin pitch used to always be godawful with the Rugger League on it too (hence why longball to Roberts and Ellington was so successful for them) and even the Madejski with Reading and Irish used to cut up quite badly in bad weather spells. |
