| Ridiculous situation at Newcastle with Mike Ashley putting his faith in Joe Kinnear to move the club forward above manager Alan Pardew. Kinnear showed his credentials recently by attending a Birmingham game to scout a few players and was particularly impressed with Brum's Shane Ferguson so starting asking a Birmingham official about him with a view to signing him only to be told that he was already a Newcastle player on loan at Birmingham http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/newcastle-transfer-news-joe-kinnear-2670971 |

| He's short, he's fat, he's had a heart attack! Remember getting gobbed on out of the flats near the ground as well. The other Kinnear howler was bragging that he didn't fear Argyle as we were only an "average team" and we went on to beat them three or four one? One nil to the average team and so on.... Happy days. |

What an ATD cabal that game was! We were in a pub that unfortunately was frequented by the idiots from Plymuff and got dragged out by the police and escorted to the ground. From memory it seemed as though Luton had sold too many tickets or let people in on the day because there were not enough seats for everyone, not that many sat. Sturrock got that game completely wrong. He had a tendency for big games to play the occasion or importance of the game down presumably to take the pressure off his players. He was accused of the same at Southampton when losing away to Pompey. |

| Think that was the game when I sat at their end behind the goal with some Luton supporting mates who'd got me a ticket. When the black fella scored, he raced behind the goal and jumped on top of me ! |

Think it was only 2-1, but we did have Trigger sent off early in the first half for an elbow (which was rightly rescinded). He also made a comment about Graham Coughlan (who went on to be the Divisional Player of the Year) as being an average "Joe Soap" Centre back after he won MotM in that game. His Luton team were also on excessive wages with Valois being on a rumoured £5-7k a week (think this was one of the contributing factors to their financial problems). He's not a bad manager, but his own opinion of himself is very inflated. |

| "I played some of the more senior players because it was a local game and important to the supporters. If it had been Plymouth, I'd have probably played the entire youth team." Joe Kinnear, speaking after selecting a strong team against Stevenage Town.
"Who is he? I've never heard of him. He's just an average Joe Soap centre half" Kinnear talking about 2001/02 Div 3 Player of the Season Graeme Coughlan.
"Plymouth is just a town full of geriatrics. It's a good place to die" Kinnear on Plymouth
"We massacred them 2-0. We had more will to win. We slaughtered them down the sides. I started with four up front just to put them on the ropes. I just didn't think they could cope. I thought they were gonna shit themselves". Joe Kinnear reflecting on Luton's 2-0 win over Argyle at Kenilworth Road
To be fair I loved his trolling. He really stoked it up to another level. The rivalry was wasted in two of the best teams Div 3 has ever seen slogging it out for the title. It was Prem level entertainment pre and post match. |

A two horse race with both teams classes above anything else in that division by miles was exciting enough but the whole thing given even more of an edge by JK's continual mouthing off in the press. The whole rivalry thing was entirely of JK's making. |

| Luton had some very classy players in their team,Matt Taylor,Matthew Spring,Emerson Boyce,Howard all went on to very good careers at a far higher level,Argyle did very well to win the title that year.Remember joining in the chant of "you fat bastard" when Joe came out of the tunnel before the match which was a bit ironic but good fun nonetheless.Happy days. |
