| It would be easy for the scrolls of Akkeron or his lackeys at PCC to rubbish this rumour, why haven't they? Starnes' answer seals it for me. |

| @greenjock, bang on about Ollieargyle, apparently we don't deserve transparency because we don't give JB enough respect to discuss matters like this behind closed doors? |

This information did not emanate from anywhere near either side of Argyle politics. I first heard it 18 months ago directly from someone in a position to know and it still held true when last heard 6 months ago and the "negotiations" were described as one sided.
Good luck with trying to find anything concrete out but MrRapson has it right on t'other side where he states that no Councillor is likely to step out of line and risk bringing the whole £180M Brent PCC love in crashing. It's beginning to look like an empire built on sand that could soon come crashing down without too much of a push. |

| It would be funny if all the backers pulled out of Brent's projects and he got left with the loans for the club. |

I bet his lip would quiver then! I wouldn't mind betting that there's a fair bit of concern for Brenty at the moment! |

I'll shed no tears if it happens - sounds dodgier by the day, something has got to give!! I've said before, if this backing is coming from the States it will be popcorn and fireworks!! |

If that happen He will sell on the land, with planning permissions passed and the extra land he gain from zoo field for nothing he would still make a big killing. Who beside Brent would have got these plans through the Council? This could be his plan all along. |

| Are there any firms that have said yes to having somewhere in the development. If so, should people be putting pressure on them about turning a public park into a retail park. Some firms may not take kindly to a negative slant to their involvment in the project and any hint of a boycott of their outlets might be too much for them.
Just a thought. _______________________________________ I'm one of the common people so says the wife! (A true GSG Girl) PepsiPete Forecasting League Champion 2016-17 He was behind me at Charlton! Now an officially semi retired old fart! |

| It's hilarious that a rumour has become 90% fact. There is absolutely no proof. If, and that's a huge if, this has any truth in it, I'll happily admit I was wrong but it genuinely makes no sense, it's highly unlikely. We are discussing someone essentially not paying huge sums of money to a cash strapped local authority who would be open to massive public dissent if this was true - how likely is that really? There's a lot wrong with local Government but I just cannot see something like this being true. There might well be negotiations about rent - that happens - but PAFC not paying any rent ian't likely at all. You do know, if you're a long term tenant, you can negotiate with your landlord. When I was renting, my landlord was going to put the rent up and I told him I'd move out. He backed down as we were good tenants. When we moved out, the rent went up. |

| For something that is bollocks. It's been alleged by some quite reliable people and the club has done a piss poor job in denying it. Not to mention the Nool has said there is some truth in it. |

| The club and/or council are going to have to prove the club is paying rent. As it stands I simply don't believe the club (br*nt) is paying rent. |

| I'm 50/50 on this. I tend to believe GG when he says that it came from a good source but on the other hand, I cannot believe that Brenty and PCC would allow themselves to be placed in such a potentially damaging position. |

| Has anybody actually asked the question? Dunlop did, the answer wasn't good enough. Who are the reliable people? I wouldn't call someone reliable if they're a) making it up or b) leaking private and confidential information. Greengenes has a 'source' who's not involved in the politics at PAFC - well, I'm sorry, if you leak a snippet like this, you've become involved. Who's the source? It's someone close! This information is available to a good 1,000+ people, if it was true, wouldn't it have been leaked already to a local newspaper who really love stories like this. Ask yourself that.
I'd also question the morality of an insider - I.e. a PCC employee or an elected member - leaking information like this to others. Greengenes is potentially putting this person in a precarious position. In my opinion, they deserve to be in that position as divulging information like this is strictly a no/no. If it was whistleblowing an assault, a crime or something else illegal, you are encouraged to do that but James Brent's rent account should not be public knowledge.

| Where there is smoke, there is usually fire. It wasn't so long ago that the 'jury was out' concerning brent for some on here. The same people used to defend the likes of the Windsor Boys and their deceitful chums. Would anyone honestly put anything past the reluctant one, tenpole, the 'erald and brent's jamboys ? |

| It depends who's making the smoke.
You can make a rumour up within seconds. Here's one:
Tring fled to Cyprus to avoid being arrested for impersonating the Queen.
Discuss........ |

| Easy mistake to make, hairy. It was actually Freddie Mercury from Queen. That's what I've heard anyway. |

| It's a rumour Hairy, rumours get discussed, I would have a little bet with you quite happily that Brent has negotiated a payment holiday, rebate or something similar, I also wouldn't be shocked if nothing is being paid whilst negotiations are taking place. Nothing illegal or untoward it just makes the gap between the plundering Tory junta that infest our councils and governments and us the people that get no rent holidays or rebates all the larger. Also by discussing the rumour you are adding rumour mongering. |
