| Delighted, its a long time since I have seen argyle dominate a game and come out with a thumping result.
I thought the new players really helped, Chadwick had a superb game and led the front line well, hit the bar and scored a really good headed goal. I thought Ashley Hennings was Man of the match, he easily beat his man every time, got some wonderful crosses in and scored with a calm and precise finish. Darren Purse really helped, solid, he was a leader at the back and was unlucky not to score with a header in the second half. Sutherland was always involved and played parts in setting up 2 goals, good game for him.
We went forward really well early on, and when we went two ahead I thought, come on lets finish em off, and by HT, I think it was all over. We were always on the move and apart from 2 sitters, we were rarely troubled in the first half.
In the second half I thought we were in control even more than in the first despite not scoring. We missed a few chances and we were not troubled seriously once apart from their consolation (I was hoping we would keep a clean sheet, the only negative).
It was a combination of us seriously improving and them playing below par. I did not think they were woeful but they were not great. As Fletcher said afterwards, we could have beaten anybody today.
There is a long road ahead, but maybe the recovery has begun, but dont get to carried away.
Well done argyle |

| Haven't seen Fletchers interview, but a sense of perspective is needed. Northampton were undoubtedly a team totally bereft of any confidence. At halftime today, they'd shipped 11 goals in 135 minutes. If they weren't so 'shot to pieces', they could and should have had at least 2 themselves, so yeah, let's not get the flags out just yet. They were there for the taking, and full credit to us for pouncing on the opportunity. Purse will turn out to be a colossus. You can just see that. And whisper it quietly, but it is undoubtedly the Ridsdale link that has got him here. Cheers Pete.

| Fletchers interview basically states that he was delighted they played it on the floor, worked hard and we could have beaten anybody today. |

Quiet on here tonight....... I agree, but one swallow doesn't make a summer, however hopefully the win will remind the lads that they can play. That last sentence is not on, its shit stirring and you should be attempting to engage ALL argyle fans, not just those that post over the fence. However keep up the good work, the Argyle Ultras is a good idea, a bit of organised orchestration seems to be just the ticket and will hopefully generate the atmosphere severely lacking in the last few years. That will hopefully make home park a better place for home fans to visit and more fans = more revenue. The communication we've had from you is going to be refreshing change from previous regimes, I hope it lasts. Ok some say it's very 'on message' but it's still far far better than what we have been used to. I also happen to agree with you about Wrathall, as a friend of mine is very close to him. I raised this on PASOTI a while ago. It got shot down at the time but there we go. It's the medium not the message But god damn it a win feels good! Can we try and be unified though? Not everyone on here fits the stereotype! |

My thoughts exactly Frank. The 'you're only happy when we're losing' line, is so predictable, tiresome , divisive and untrue. |

Its not about accepting it Fronk though. It is about understanding that there are external reasons for it and having he foresight to see that there is always hope. Constant moaning never moved anything forward. The kids deserves our support until they could get some help. They've now got a little help and will get more in January. A hard slog ahead but we can do it......together. |

There certainly were external reasons. The whole season has been sacrificed in order to squeeze out as much money to hand back to the previous owners... that's what the whole elongated process was all about. Some fans, unsurprisingly don't like that and haven't gone along with it. As for hope, people have hope or despair about most things of different levels. I myself am extremeley hopeful and indeed, expectant, that the Western financial crisis in casino capitalism will result in it's colapse to be replace by a far more communal outlook to business and life. Does that hope take foresight ? ... I have no idea. It's always good when Argyle win and it is always churlish to spoil a good day for people, especially when they are so few and far between. Very polite we are on here. Peace and love. |

| Of course everyone is ecstatic. To think it's quiet on here because we're pissed off we won and won convincingly is quite frankly childish. But, yesterday was against an extremely poor side who were thumped 7-2 at home the previous week. However, perhaps without the new additions this is one we'd have probably lost or drawn. But becuase the opposition was so crap I'm waiting for the next result before gauging if things really have improved.
Most on here are still fuming that we're in this dogshit division in the first place. It should NEVER have happened. We could and should now be a consolidated Championship team. We also very possibly could have enjoyed a season or two in the big time under Ollie. But *****wallet had aother ideas. |

Couldn't agree more. Superb result yesterday for sure, but the next two games are just as crucial. If we can potst convincing wins over Bradford and Hereford then perhaps we can't start whispering about corners being turned/new dawns/more than one swallow/*insert favoured relevant cliche here* |

| Apologies for not posting before but I have a life outside of football and a busy one at that and then I had to celebrate our win yesterday with a few mates.
Chris, when you say it's quiet on this site I can only assume you are comparing this site to Pasoti. Pasoti has 5,400 members, this site has 100, comparing the postings on both sites would suggest that this site was considerably busier then Pasoto over the past 24 hours based on percentage terms.
Anyway...
It was an unexpected and cracking result and I'm forced to eat humble pie twice, firstly for the result and secondly for Chadwick.
Whilst it was a cracking result I'm not so stupid to believe that one swallow makes a summer, if we continue on and scrape a few results together then I may raise an eyebrow. We're still firmly rooted to the bottom of the entire FL remember and the team we beat, like us, isn't setting the world on fire. So whilst we should all be happy with the result, only an idiot would get too carried away with it.

A hard slog ahead but we can do it......together. It was a bit more than "a little help" though,Chris.Five new players in the team yesterday and boy were they needed. Not surprising that people were moaning-that display against Stourbridge was the most inept and humiliating one i've ever seen from an Argyle team and, believe me,i've seen a few.If you want to see some real intolerance at football clubs, just look at the abuse and venom being directed at Steve's Kean and Bruce at the moment-we're pussycats down here compared to other places around the country, sometimes to the detriment of our clubs fortunes,IMHO.And GOB is correct,i saw posts from Tring,Freathy,Phenom,Cobi and others saying that it was a very encouraging day yesterday-long may it continue.FWIW,my own view is that James Brent has so far done everything that he said he would as far as team strengthening is concerned and good on him for that-its also encouraging that further strengthening is on the cards in January.Good stuff, but as you say, still a long slog ahead and methinks tougher tests than yesterday will be placed in Argyle's way and we'll see if the ability and character of the squad can meet the challenge. |

| Early days but what a difference some MEN made. I said there were glimmers of hope in some of the younger lads but what we need in a physical league is men. Experience, height and strength was lacking and Fletch has identified that and started the process of rebuilding.
With kids you need to expose them gradually, a couple of games then dropped, short runs in the team then sidelines to regain the hunger and consolidate the learning process. We've been asking too much of them, we've had no choice in fairness, but it's no surprise that not only did the new additions bring something but Connor and Atkinson stood a couple of inches taller for having them there too.
Faux experience, faux manliness like that given off by man-child Walton doesn't count. Having proper leaders now, both in terms of encouragement and example will be the making of the best of those kids. They can be enthused and motivated when they're on the pitch and every bit as importantly they can be rested and refreshed off it now we've got some numbers.
I know it's a long road to go, I know it was only Northampton, but i'm really confident now. I was confident we weren't entirely the basket case team some were portraying but now i'm sure we'll pull away far enough to survive. The bad players can be sidelined and the better kids can have the space to grow. Hourihane, Lecointe et all will improve now and boy has Curtis Nelson needed dropping for weeks. He's a good player though and he'll come back better when we need him too.
The fightback starts here. |

| A fantastic and well needed result.
We still looked shaky in defence, especially in the second half under pressure. Hopefully that will improve.
We should not immediately think we are 'saved' though. Cautious optimism on my part though. Hemmings is a class apart, we will never hold on to him. Made all the difference.
Chris, saw your mate Newell in the Brit, sitting all by himself, have you had a lover's tiff? I see you were mumbling a load of bull to the sheep in the Pyramid. Is there a divorce coming?
Quite honestly, you can't help yourself can you? Your condescension in your post above is breath taking. We don't need you to tell us how to be supporters. Keep your Aviva Superfans on your own pet website please. |

Although it might have been nice to consult (or at least inform) the ST holders in blocks 3 and 4 before announcing that they're going to be submerged ... |

| I would like to see the Ultras idea happen. But this will mean a whole culture change at Home Park so it may not be so easy to implement. In order for it to work properly most of the Devonport End would need to be involved and not just half a block in the middle or it will look and sound a bit lame. |

| Always a good idea to allow a crowd a situation to get going. But if anybody thinks Home Park is suddenly going to turn into some Bocca Juniors impersonation is going to be sadly disdappointed. We all know how English football crowds have lost much of their magic with the incessant regulation and attitude of the industry that have tried to encourage the American style family routine were stuffing food down your neck is as important as the sport. It will be interesting how this pans out... it's not something that you can just invent ... and vocal supports always have to have their fair share of more assertive characters for it to work .. not sure if today's average Argyle fan is capable of the support we managed in the 70s. For instance, will big flags on poles be allowed to be brought in by ordinaty fans, not by the club, and not considered a weapon? For once if Webby succeeds in tihs, and I mean succeeds properly, I'll give the club a round of applause... it is an idea worth trying. Is he planning on having a Pasoti-style swear checker installed at the Devonport to sheppards' crook all those with a foul mouth in order to protect those sensitive souls ? we wouldn't want to upset anybody... we are talking Ultras here

| What was the name of the guy that stood on a box in front of the Demport back in the late 60s, early 70s with a megaphone whilst trying to get the fans singing? I think he lasted about 3 matches of abuse before giving up?
It's a different audience these days but I'm not so sure this is going to work, especially when considering we're bottom of the entire FL. |

| Probably has as much chance as a bat in hell. I can just see all the complaints now .. different lobbies appearing. The family area and the 'ultras' ( ) will be at loggerheads and the spat will put the Pasoti/ATD thing into the shade. It's all a bit like the dreams of a child trying to build his first subbuteo stadium, but everyone has to go through that stage, it's not for us to smirk. |
